"I felt that I had control of my career. I worked hard and proved my professionalism. Once that happened, I was able to pursue the responsibilities I thought were most beneficial to me and the company."

"AEP recognizes leadership. Be confident and present yourself as a professional."
What don't you like about working at American Electric Power?
"There were several re-organizations over the years that I worked there. Because I was not in a visionary role for these changes, decisions were made that I did not understand or agree with."

"The suggestions I had for management were case by case. Some of my suggestions were around resource management, communication, or even project based. I appreciated that I was able to make suggestions at all levels."

"This is a difficult company to work for they have inexperianced leadership and no written work practices."

"The managment is new and they are struggling to work and understand the construction enviornment."

"politics - Need to give more authority to project managers to manage projects"

"give PM role more authority. They have a tendancy to hire hire hire and then fire fire fire"

"They don't understand construction and don't appreciate what I do. Have no support staff other than a contracts administrator."

"Decisions are sometimes made across the state, which slows down the work that needs to be done. Not much control over that so I just work on other things that I can until decisions are made."

"To praise and give credit where credit is due. Many employees don't receive credit for work that is done and that creates problems."
