What do you like about working at Cisco Systems?

"I like the great people, great technology, and interesting work. However, the global nature of the business makes for long hours."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Make sure you analyze the full package: pay, bonus, equity, benefits, work-life balance, and work content."

What don't you like about working at Cisco Systems?

"I dislike the increasing job uncertainty due to spot layoffs without previous communications. As previously mentioned, the perks have been disappearing over the last several years."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would spend more money on employee happiness. The perks at Cisco have slowly dwindled over the past 5-10 years. Much of what used to differentiate Cisco from an employee happiness perspective is gone."

"I didn't have much if any contact with my supervisor in this position. He worked in another state. When I started the Cisco campus had 4 buildings and just over 1000 employees. When I left one building and under 500 people working that location. I was on sight support for that network but when Cisco downsized they moved most of the data centers to Dallas."

"Cisco is a company filled with very strong and intelligent sales people. But there is too much middle management and lots of failed attempts at launching new solutions into the market, at least in collaboration. They have also continued to lay people off every single FY for the past 3 years, though the company has over $50 billion in the bank. Kinda sad."

"My particular team was non-stop stressed out, unhappy, and had no idea what they were doing. They hired a junior level engineer with no intention of in depth on-boarding. Everyone was required to be in office at 8 am, yet stay until 9 pm or later; sometimes into the midnight hours. Most of the team quit."
