What suggestions do you have for management?

"need to review the compensation package for retail stores. the parts manager should receive more than 10 dollars an hour for all the responsibility he has."

What do you like about working at AutoZone?

"If you work commercial, no one in management unless they are commercial have a clue as to what you do or how you do your job. The Regional, District and Store managers think only DIY, so you can get away with a lot since they have no interest in your job. The expectations are so low for commercial that sales are minute compared to the DIY retail sales so make an extra $200 for the week and you are a Hero."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you are coming in as management negotiate for a high base pay. They always have 3 offers, and they start out low. The range from offer 1 to number 3 is about 30%. If you are an hourly employee $8 is about it, but ask for $9 or more, if they have no other applicants you will get what you want. Also they do background checks but no drug screening, of course at $8 a hour you can't afford cigarettes let alone drugs."

What don't you like about working at AutoZone?

"$8 a hour is the going rate for most store personnel and no benefits for one year. After a year the benefits are so expensive you can't afford them. Most of the store Managers are retired from the military or government so they are just supplementing their retirement pay. 95% of what we sell to the repair shops is only about 4% less that what a retail costumer pays, makes sales hard to get the get. There is a lot of theft at the store level from employees so that have very aggressive Gestapo LP group. They lost a lawsuit for $15 million in San Diego based on their LP procedures, you would think they would learn how to do it right, they didn't."

"Grow a pair and stop be yes people."

"Interacting with all different types of customers and being able to have some managerial authority"

"The job was a dirty job"

"I love cars and trucks, so I liked selling auto parts. I also, liked helping people with problems they were having with their cars."

"I did not make much money while working there. I did not enjoy the hours I worked, usually 12:30 P.M.-9:30 P.M. Some of the managers did not treat the employees very well."

"I didn't like that they didn't have many incentives for the employees."

"A suggestion I have for management is to be open to the advice of your employees because they may see something you don't see that would make a big difference within the team and company."

"I love meeting new people, and learning about the mechanics of automobiles. I have a lot ot experience with cars, but there's always someone who knows more. Excellent learning experience."

"It's a good company, it just depends on your intentions."

"It was a dangerous community. Crime became a factor. I was robbed at gunpoint and advancement was minimal."

"More meetings with your employees. More conversing."

"To hire not only spanish speaking employees; It is infested with spanish people"

"Implement an improved pay scale for employees and managment. Perhaps better discounts would be enough to increase retainment employee retainment - or give the employees the option of higher pay verses benefits."
