What don't you like about working at United Airlines?

"They control too many of the important things about a job. Even if I set a goal of getting specificdays off or a specific number of hours to work they have the freedom to change that at their convenience. Since I'm home so little I really want to have some stability. I want to know that I'll be home Saturday so I can make plans, but sometimes they change it last minute. It effects my personal life."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Focus on improving the things that effect customers directly. Minimize delays, get more organized, give them options on the flight to make it convenient. The happier they are the happier we are as employees."

"My first 18 years on my job at Continental Airlines before we merged with United from 1992 to 2010, I had glorious days, and extraordinary pay, competent, and confident, loving every minute, and could hardly wait to go into work the next day. Until the 2 airlines merged, United/Continental Airlines."

"A company that is not even close to its potential. High level managers, directors and VPs typically have no idea what they are doing. Merger pains still exist."

"A nice place to work at if you love travelling. A big pool of interesting problems in optimization and statistics domains. The industry still has a lot of opportunities for improvement. The co-workers and the managers are very nice. Good work/life balance. The only drawback is the average salaries and the vacations. Chicago also is a great place to live at, specially in summer. If you are not a US Citizen, they do a good job in sponsoring for Green Card."
