Technical Support Agent at Vonage
in Holmdel, NJ

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"Vonage was a decent place to work. It seemed like they were definitely trying, but didn't have all the pieces put together quite yet."

What do you like about working at Vonage?

"The working environment was pretty nice. The Vonage campus was beautiful and was a pretty nifty-techy sorta place. Co-workers were usually very nice and helpful, you definitely got the we're all in this together sort of feeling. Vonage was also trying as far as making it a good place to work. They offered decent benefits, a 401K, and even meal allowances ($100/mo) for employees."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Review basic networking and computer concepts. They will ask you for stuff like why would it be a problem if this router behind this router had the same IP address or.. what would be the best way to hook up all these devices on the network"

What don't you like about working at Vonage?

"The nature of the call center business. Since the Holmdel facility was a Tier 2 and up level on the support line, customers had spoken to atleast 1 and often times 2 or more people before speaking to you. As such, they were likely to be irate at having to provide the same information over and over and getting no resolution. Also it also seemed like a factory in the sense that you just sat there like a machine all day, with no control over how calls came in and such. Everything was based on your numbers, not the level of support."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Please streamline your call-center process so that customers have not spoken to more than one person before you, and so that the information they already gave is relayed to the next level of support. Also, please consider customer satisfaction more when it comes to assign employee hours or evaluate performance for promotions out of the call floor. From hearing other agents' conversations, I KNOW I was providing a better level of support via first-call resolution and minimal escalations to ATS, yet because my AHT and other numerics were not ideal, I would be on the bottom of the list for promotions, better hours, raises, or the like."

What don't you like about working at Accolade Support?

"Management seems to have checked out last year and lost control of their business. They should have seen the writing on the wall in regard to losing their largest and should have stepped up their marketing efforts long before they did."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"They are arrogant and aloof. They did not even bother to wish their employees 'happy holidays' this past season. I found that to be disgusting. They should qualify their workers as employees, not indep. contractors due to legal ramifications that could come their way. Their training is severely lacking and caused many issues with clients because of that. I could go on...."

Technical Support Agent at Electronic Data Systems
in Port Hawkesbury, NS

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"EDS gave me great experience, I am very thankful for that."

What do you like about working at Electronic Data Systems?

"The people at EDS were fantastic. I made many friends. The office environment was open and relaxed. I was very comfortable working there and I was comfortable with my leaders."

What don't you like about working at Electronic Data Systems?

"I worked very hard at EDS and although my job title improved, my salary never did. I also felt that there was favoritism in the office. I was way more qualified for a team lead position I applied for than the person who got the promotion, but that person was close friends with the technology manager. That is my personal opinion though, since I knew the person, they were my friend, I knew his qualifications, and I know I had much more qualifications and had been doing the job on the weekends for over a month."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would suggest that management look at the person on a professional level, not on a personal level when it comes to internal promotions. Also, recondition for the hard work is really great. That way, the employee knows that their hard work is paying off, even if it is just a compliment, little goes a long way sometimes. Also, if you are going to promote someone, I would suggest that their pay get promoted along with their title. More responsibilities with the same money does not help the employee be the best they can be."
