"I started with StateFarm in 2011. The company used to be a very fun place to work. But recently the company has become a major numbers place. If your numbers aren't good enough you get fired. They are trying to cut costs but it is affecting company morale all over the enterprise."

Working at State Farm Insurance in Bloomington, IL: 49 Employee Reviews

State Farm Insurance Employee

"I've worked with State Farm long enough to know this company should be avoided at all costs. This is a toxic work place, the leadership does not care, and they will do anything except behave in a professional appropriate manner."

"State Farm got rid of the pension. I’m looking at the starting salary for people who work in claims at other companies and State Farm isn’t even competitive with the other companies anymore. Plus all they care about is metrics. Your too micro managed."

"I have worked for State Farm for almost 5 years and I can say it is a consistently moral place for occupation. The employees above me and around me are constantly pushing each other forward for a better cause and it never stops advancing."

"I have worked here since 2019. This is a great company to get your foot in the door if your career path is in claims, however, it is not a balanced workload/pay compensation ratio. Some territories receive much high claim volume than others, at no extra pay with the exception of overtime. This makes balancing work/life/wellness very difficult. State Farm invests a tremendous amount of time and energy training their employees. This is a wonderful first company for an aspiring Adjuster. Lots of opportunities and flexibility within the company to switch positions and locations."

"I've worked for State Farm insurance for over 15 years and it's the top company for auto insurance policy holders. Huge organization with excellent people and great work culture makes it a happy workplace. Dynamic executives at the top who understand competition makes an employee strive to achieve greater heights."

"Heartless. They will lay you off. It's just a matter of time. That seems to be the new model for keeping pay lower. Just get rid of experienced people and hire independent reps instead. Or move jobs around the country knowing people won't move. Same thing. Not a bad place to gain some experience. But if you aren't promoted in about 5 years. Start looking elsewhere. Lots of people leave and do better."

"I have worked for this company for 25 years. It was at the start a fantastic work environment and the company focus was its customers. The company also cared for the employees. I was shocked 4 years ago at the number of veteran employees let go. Afterwards the employed were managed like children, put on a metric system, and all told daily how poorly inefficient they were performing. Now another round of layoffs, as customer service wanes. I hate to say I cannot recommend working for a company I gave my life to."

"One person (who shall remain unnamed) is single-handedly killing this company. He is running it into the ground all the while lining his pockets by letting go higher paid employees. Claim satisfaction rankings have plummeted. From top 5 in JD Powers to #21. Working here is a nightmare - the place is a sweatshop. It's all micro management and metrics - set impossible goals, whip the employees daily and tell them how poorly they are doing. If you see a positive rating in claims - it's a lie. The place is pure hell."

"If you do not have a 4 year degree, do not waste your time. People do work hard for a degree, but that does not make them a good employee. Too often, I watched tenured employees get passed over for a promotion, because they did not have that 4 year degree. They passed up some very good candidates!"
