"I've worked at Sony for almost 10 years. While working here, we've experienced an annual lay off for the last 5 years. The electronics business is very difficult and although Sony tries very hard to compete, they are just not making the core products consumers what to purchase. Add to this a top heavy management organizational structure and a higher than average product return rate."

"I wish they would have found other ways of cut backs without lay offs."

"We use leading edge technology and training is provided for any new technology picked up for projects"

"The DBA should maintain their skills and ensure they are trained/experienced in the leading edge technology"

"There are not enough DBA's available to support the systems"

"The DBA group should be staffed at the proper level to maintain the workload."

"I had the great opportunity of working specifically with the Digital Imaging Product Group. As a photographer, that allowed me to match my passion with my position. There was good opportunity for growth and learning."

"Professionalism balanced with current technology and style knowledge is key for working at Sony."

What don't you like about working at Sony?

"One of the main challenges was the amount of time expected. Since I worked at the retail level of the company, there was a 24/7 - 365 need. I did find it challenging that, even on vacation, I was expected to be available."

"To be honest, the management team I worked with at Sony were some of the best people I've worked with. Given the stressful, fast paced world that was Sony online retail presence, I feel they did a great job."

"Just know about the company and its products before the interview."

What don't you like about working at Sony?

"The company is not currently making the the products that gives them a good market share in various market segments and its market share in most of the products has drastically declined."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"It should look for reducing the price of the products and consider changing its market strategies like focusing on Ad revenue with services instead of monthly charge for the services.(like making Sony Network Entertainments services free instead of monthly service charge etc)."

"I love working at Sony because I get to learn more how to fix complicated laptop issues"
