"Company moving as much work overseas as possible, Austin workforce is in a decline."
What do you like about working at Applied Materials?
"Exciting, challenging, very empowered workforce in the 90s. Since 2003 trend was always downward. As things stabilized from the growth of the 90s, to shrinking, became regimented and a life of avoiding layoffs. I personally avoided 14 of them."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Don't. Unless you have a unique skill they need and you want to spend a great deal of your time in Asia."
What don't you like about working at Applied Materials?
"Constant overall decline since 2003, working with a perpetual sense of dread. Years of forced time off, the reward for excelling was not being fired. Company developed the ability to lie to itself."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Know what they invested in with Solar, and understand what Applied did well in semiconductor does not apply. Structure the semiconductor business for the size it is instead of continuing the constant internal pain."
What do you like about working at Time Warner?
"I love the people. To be honest I really would like to stay with AOL, and ride the new band wagon with the new management. I believe there are exciting things ahead for AOL. However, layoffs are coming and no one is safe and one needs to be proactive."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Not really, just be open, honest, and show the passion that it takes to work hard, to have integrity, creative/innovate."
What don't you like about working at Time Warner?
"Over the past few years all of the inconsistencies with Executive Management, different strategies that didn't seem to make sense for the market place. My hope is with the spin-off from Time Warner things will calm down and there will be a clear direction."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"I think Tim Armstrong is heading in the right direction and is working towards bringing the executives and management in line, again, I would love to be around after the layoffs to see what happens with the company."

"Sometimes stressful environment with excessive financial reporting requirements."

"A strong team environemnt. Just do it approach to winning in retail."

"Memorex is now owned by Imation. The Imation company culture is very different than Memorex was."
What don't you like about working at Memorex?
"Memorex was purchased 4 months after I joined and the transition and subsequent office closing was stressful."

"Don't lose site of what you do best and what made you successful."

"Just be yourself! They love energy and people who aren't afraid to work entirely outside of the box."

"There was quite a bit of leadership turn-over about four years ago and it was hard to adjust to the inconsistancy."

"Settle on a leadership and move forward!"
