"I loved being a Senior Engineer, I hated being promoted to team lead, and ending up doing scheduling, HR work (reviews), updating Gantt Charts, and juggling holiday calendars. I had thought I was becoming a Technical Lead. I was actually becoming a Manager. The skill sets are not overlapping. Being a good engineer does not prepare you to be a Team Manager, nor does it mean you will be a good Team Manager."
