"I had my own territory and was not "micro-managed". I was able to basically work my own hours as long as I hit my weekly goal. I was able to do things without checking in every time I had a personal appointment to go to. I was paid every week and paid very well. The president of the company is funny and laid back and I just loved working there."

Senior Account Executive at Gartner
in Portland, OR

What do you like about working at Gartner?

"Exposure to a variety of organizations and exposure to all the key trends and key initiatives . I loved working with the clients more than working for Gartner. The quality of the analysts was overall, good, however because of their rapid growth, the quality went down."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you are young and inexperienced in high-tech, this is an excellent place for you to cut your teeth. The knowledge you can acquire is vast. However, if you are highly skilled, creative, and have had a lot of experience in technology, stay away. Gartner has a playbook, a methodology, and a process for everything. Innovation is suppressed. Inexperienced managers are prevalent and rewarded."

What don't you like about working at Gartner?

"Micromanaged organization for people that are unskilled and inexperienced. If you are intelligent and have brains, then run away quickly. If you are good at following orders and like a cult environment, then you would be perfect at Gartner."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Make key investments and acquisitions to expand the portfolio. Hire good talent from the technology industry instead of hiring people from the services industry that don't know or care about technology. Most of the sales people at Gartner are clueless about technology. Hire qualified sales executives that see employees as investments rather than a body. Attrition rate is high at Gartner. They tend to chew employees and spit them out."

Senior Account Executive at Medical Dynamics
in New York City, NY

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"Learned how to deal with crazy people. Learned never to work for them again."

What do you like about working at Medical Dynamics?

"The coworkers (not the boss or upper management). They were amazing, talented people and we all had a lot of fun because we were the only ones who understood how miserable that place is."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"RUN. Look for a different place to work. The high salaries she offers are just to blind you to the unhealthy work environment around you."

What don't you like about working at Medical Dynamics?

"it was an abusive environment to a T. micromanaged every second, CEO hates her life and is horrible to everyone. You're not expected to have a life outside the office and need to be on-call at all times. I can't imagine this place is going to stay open for a few years longer, given the awful way it's run."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Quit. At least stop being so awful to your employees."

Senior Account Executive at Autodesk
in Irvine, CA

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"90% Stick and 10% Carrot Culture with the Owners enriching themselves."

What do you like about working at Autodesk?

"Microdesk (est. 1994) is still a very immature organization which does not value Sales Professionals who produce and have a large amount of business experience; a large part of this is due to the inexperienced owner's leadership and limited organizational experience. Some examples: There are no annual performance reviews, no Chairman's Club or performance bonuses, and there is no visual road map of how to advance in this company. If you over-perform your quota, you will be thanked with an 80% hike in your quota the following next fiscal year with no performance review and no rewards (ie, performance raise). The Little Carrot: $250 1st place and $150 2nd place weekly scorecard winners based on metrics the sales leadership has put in place. Unfortunately, much like the comp plan given to you, the scorecard is riddled traps and is also manually put together and mistakes are often made and new reps have learned to game the program. The Leadership: Much of the VP's on the sales side are clearly handcuffed and they mostly act as lame ducks serving the owner by regurgitating data the sales team in their respective regions have already communicated to them on their one-on-ones. The VP's have to take weekly rantings and beat-downs by the Owner. The commission plan changes every year and further traps are placed so that high performing reps are not allowed to make any real compensation above the average of $80K a year. Why Go Work Here 1. Sales: Do so if you have less than 5 years of work experience. 64 Sales Reps have come and gone since 2006 for just 4 offices; average employee stays between 9-20 months. 2. Industry experience and knowledge, but don't expect rewards, accolades, or positive reinforcement of any kind."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Questions to Ask Microdesk in an Interview:1. How many of your current reps have been here longer than 4 years Is there anyone with 8 years or longer Reverse: How many reps on the team have been here less than 2 years2. How many of the reps have actually earned six figures as a result of doing $2M in sales"

What don't you like about working at Autodesk?

"Endless traps laid out in commission plans so you can't really make six figure incomes here. Constant crazy changes and re-training because of high turn over."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Get a CLUE: Treat people like you value them and they will stay longer!"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Its been challenging because when I started, they had just opened up this Direct sales department so they didn't know what the target market was, the vertical, the size of the prospect they wanted to go after, the strategu nor did they have a inside sales plan or comp plan. It has changed every quarter for the three years I have been here. It's been hard to adapt to."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
