Security Officer at Centurion Private Investigators
in Jacksonville, IL

What do you like about working at Centurion Private Investigators?

"There were long periods of nothing to do but patrol the hallways and check to make sure doors were locked, and there were a few nice people occasionally."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"First of all, the Pay on the last screen was $8.25 per hour which is less than $24,000 per year, so fix that selection. Now to this box: Do not stop looking for another job if you are hired here. Be prepared to spend hundreds of your own dollars on extra uniform equipment and state certification. You will not get reimbursed for anything."

What don't you like about working at Centurion Private Investigators?

"From week-to-week my work schedule would change from night shift to day shift (11pm-7am / 7am-3pm). Some weeks my days off were split so I would have Mondays and Thursdays off. From week to week none of us ever knew what days we would work. When someone calls in sick, we must say and complete a 16 hour shift because we are a security company, we can't leave the property without getting relieved by another officer. We got paid minimum wage and as a policy, there is no raise and no benefits. At home I had to stay in bed for 12 hours just to get enough sleep so I could be lucid at work."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would keep employees on a fixed schedule from day to day so they could adjust their wakefulness and be able to plan personal events in advance. Paying more than only the minimum wage would attract higher quality employees."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"The interviewing process is easy, though you do have to have three references outside of Securitas."

What don't you like about working at Securitas?

"The pay is low, the hours are on the off hours, so it cuts into your social life. The job is low status, people think you are stupid bum to be a security guard. There are too many rigid military types in the business. The work seems useless, pointless at times."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would pay the security officers at least $15 an hour. I would offer full health care coverage. I would offer $600 a week paid vacations."

Security Officer at Phoenix Protective
in Kent, WA

What do you like about working at Phoenix Protective?

"There is very little to like about working for this company specifically, however, the work was exciting at times, especially the loss prevention work."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Find another company. You will not be a valued member of the team and will be asked to do way more for them than they are paying you to do. Their ad says a genuine desire to work in the security industry after working for this company, that desire will be gone."

What don't you like about working at Phoenix Protective?

"Training is unpaid, usually takes place during hours an employee would be working (must submit a leave request to take part) and occasionally at the employees out-of-pocket expense. Training is also considered required for some sites, therefore you are being told to take unpaid training while losing paid hours. Management does not communicate with line staff at all. Several times you are made to cover shifts with little to no notice. (30 minutes to maybe 2 hours notice) Management is arrogant at times and treats line staff as if they were a bunch of lost puppies or little children. Communication with clients is lacking (will change officers with little to no notice to the client, thereby disrupting routine and familiarity and ruining workplace cohesion) Several employees are asked to work far from home with no compensation for gas or vehicle wear and tear."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Change EVERYTHING or your turnover will continue to go up and the company will continue to lose clients. Treat employees with respect and communicate clearly. Pay employees (even if it is minimum wage) for their time training to show some appreciation and instill a sense of value to the company (nearly every competitor in the industry does)"

Security Officer at Allegiance Security Group
in Palm Beach, FL

What do you like about working at Allegiance Security Group?

"There is nothing I would say about this company that is good"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Go for it if you need the job but make this company a temporary intell you find a real security company"

What don't you like about working at Allegiance Security Group?

"You are treated like you are a nobodie. The branch manager is causing us to lose sites. They try to get you to rat on other guards. And when you do they tell other guards because they don't understand the meaning of confidentiality. Site supervisors try to have power struggles with other guards and when you get in trouble they don't bother with proof with documentation. And then put you on a site that's to far so you basically quit instead of firing you."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Start doing your job instead of doing what it is your doing"
