Sales Associate at Kay Jewelers
in Northridge, OH

Company and manager more interested in how many credit applications you got and after sales insurance signed up than your sales and doing a good job. did not like the quality of the merchandise or the repair shop. Disgruntled co-workers."

Sales Associate at Best Buy
in Middletown, RI

What do you like about working at Best Buy?

"Generally great co-workers really make it worth working. Customers at times are a bit thick, but it's to be expected. There is, as always, favoritism, seen from a perspective of someone who stays back from it, it's funny to watch. Corporate seems to be completely lost at times, and when they recently closed the doors of fifty stores, they lied at the initial news to placate the initial shock and anger that would have arisen with the stores they closed down."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"With the upcoming ReOrg May 5th, and horrible upper management, as well as the salary that is much less than what was previously on the page. (21K for the year if you're lucky as a sales associate); only do so if you must. It's better than most fast food, I admit; but save yourself the trouble if you're in no dire need."

What don't you like about working at Best Buy?

"The upper management. I understand focusing on numbers, but the teachback they give about it is pretty awful. They want to send suits from district offices who honestly have no idea what it's like to work retail. They tell us to do this, say that, and rainbows will be everywhere! And we attempt it, only to humor them, and customers immediately reject us as pushy salesmen. Let the personality and people sell."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Recognize talent at the GM and manager level. Don't lie to the peons of the company, and be innovative. It's never fun or profitable to be behind the curve."

Sales Associate at RadioShack
in Concord, NH

What don't you like about working at RadioShack?

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Make the expectations reasonable, and raise base pay some to make it livable. I would also look into addressing the imbalance between a key holder and a normal person. I took these keys because I thought I would get a raise, and now I have to make deposits and open and close all for the same pay."
