"Keep a hands on approach and spend some time on the benches and see what their employees actually do."

"My CFO was phenomenal and was very giving in terms of education. The environment was very interesting as we had a working biotech lab and scientists working on cutting edge projects."

"Quest is a very busy company so they need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment."

What don't you like about working at Quest Diagnostics?

"I trained my staff accountant to do most of my job because she is very bright and I wanted to challenge her. Eventually, my only tasks were to prepare the financial statements and do the variance analysis. I left because I became bored."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Pathway was sold to Quest and management moved on so I don't have any suggestions."

"Stable and many people spend their whole life there and retire."

"Be open and available to take on any work that needs completing."

"Hours are not that great, currently I am working the graveyard shift."

"Hire more people because there is so much work to be done and not enough people."

"Being with certain people there (co-workers), and good job security."

"Your job is pretty darn secure, but you have to deal with complete idiots (which are handling your medical specimens that doctors base a diagnosis on), lower than average pay with horrible raises, extremely hard to non-existent ability for promotions, co-workers and managers extremely resistant to changes even if more efficient and logical."

What don't you like about working at Quest Diagnostics?

"WAAAY too many things to simply list here. Incompetent supervisor(s), inability to discipline employees (or fire them), mixed messages with pay (increased revenues, reduced raises (which are already horrible), can't give high raises but if you threaten to quit, big raise for you to stay!), no COLA, want to be #1, but pay the average (say they pay average, its actually below), etc. etc. etc."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Put the employees over the stock holders. Stop saying you have to have cutbacks despite increasing revenue every year."

"It has its up and down like any other companies."

"Sometime people get nervous when being interviewed, so just keep that in mind."

"I wish it had more diversity. They will go far because the company is very serious about its mission. I was very proud to be a Quest Diagnostics employee."

"To foster more inputs from bench workers about work related issues."

"I like the large number of vacation days we get."

"I do not like that the people are all so negative."

"I would try not to show preferential treatment to employees."

"The scheduling is flexible and I can generally take the days I want off without any problems."

"Don't expect to be promoted past the average tech position. Group lead spots are rare, and anything above that you will have to wait till a supervisor quits, retires, or drops dead."

"The directors and supervisors have to have their way. The employees who are actually doing most of the grunt work rarely get to offer suggestions."

"I would change the culture of the company to a more modern view. People need to be fired and new management put into place."

"Learn on your own or free time the medical terminology and other procedures that the health companies requires."

"The trainers were not capable to solve and answer the employee questions."

"Need more training in medical terminology and more support for the staff."

"Very excellent working environment, a great deal of camaraderie between coworkers."

"Certain tasks can be repetitive, but these are cancelled out by other work activities."

"Delegate as much as possible to the paralegals instead of using the time of attorneys."
