What do you like about working at Honeywell?
"I like my fellow employees and the customers. I was exposed to many industries, and my colleagues were amazingly committed to doing whatever it took to take care of the customer. There are great opportunities to learn from peers."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Ignore the rhetoric. You want their money and anything else that will make you more marketable: e.g., experience, training, etc. They are stealing from employees and that will not stop. This is a huge opportunity to work with a great group of people with a great customer base. That is its value proposition - not rewards or long-term growth, and certainly not leadership. Take the check and make yourself more marketable OUTSIDE of Honeywell - every week. Know that and prosper! Seek certifications wherever possible. Follow this advice and you could end up working there for decades; will be able to go elsewhere, and it will all be on your terms. Honeywell, since being acquired by Allied Signal, behaves as if they are the only employer in town. Don't believe it. Treat it as a short-term opportunity for cash and training, regardless of how long you are there."
What don't you like about working at Honeywell?
"The majority of executives are not leaders in any sense. They say one thing and do another. They view employees, especially those who have been in the US over five years, as a liability. I'm not making this up. They've actually said this in an all-hands meeting."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"There's nothing wrong with having American citizens on the payroll. Lead, follow, or get out of the way. Stop stealing from employees, converting them to salary and then demanding 70-hour weeks, reducing pay, furloughs, taking away retirement health benefits, reneging on pension, etc. There is such a thing as Karma."
