"First Horizon was a total disaster in Southern California. How many offices did they close? How many lives did they ruin? Totally incompetent senior management. Managers were fired."

"New England Financial was purchased by METLIFE. The Boston Site eventually became regional office with no major executives working there."

"The management was very focus on accomplishments. The management styles were good to achieve the great results."
"An excellent company with a highly skilled legal department that became overly cost-conscious once it became public."
"Great company if you have a decent manager in a good department that is fair and balanced."

"MetLife is a good company depending on the department. I liked my position I held with MetLife. If you end up in a department with someone who is a bad manager, your experience will be awful. Good manager, good department and you will enjoy working at Metlife."

"Come to work early, stay late. The manager that you report to may change every quarter. Learn your job and have conversations when you can arrange it with the head of your department."
What don't you like about working at MetLife?
"Middle managers are not good role models, very little support for advancement for people of color. The atmosphere is much better in the sales offices but the home offices have much to be desired."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Hire people that have vision and stop hiring people they know MetLife is notorious for hiring school chums and friends. Management at MetLife is only concerned about the issues at their level. It is not meant to be that way, it is just that MetLife is so huge that there is no one design to how Met works."
"With layoff, the only advantage of working in Met (job security) is gone."

"if you like slow and no pressure work environment; things take time to proceed."

"Not much career advancement (most people just stay where they are); used to be secure but now layoffs all the time; management responded to market slowly, just started shipping jobs overseas."

"Pay more attention to the long term goals and employees, not Wall Street analysts."
