"Be honest, expect long hours and the responsibilities of multiple people's jobs, and figure you will be working most nights and even weekends."

"I dislike the fact that they began laying off so many people in order to fix their bottom line. People did the work of 2-3 normal workers and they continued to cut."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Management should communicate more closely with their teams and not be off doing God knows what and not be accountable."

"I like channel development, training provided, certifications, marketing assistance, 401k, and medical benefits."

"Channel is the key to success; base your responses on that."

What don't you like about working at Avaya?

"The future of Avaya is questionable. It went for public to private, pending IPO. The legacy of ATT and Lucent is history. R&D is not adequate. New products are missing and they just have enhanced products. The acquisition of Nortel is questionable."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Management needs to become an innovator. Stop fighting with your channels. Let the channels sell support rather than Avaya having this exclusive."

"You need to be able to walk in and just do the job."

"I have no reason to say anything bad about this company."

"I work with a talented group of people within my business unit of managed services. We have strong leadership and good support."

"Make sure you have the tools and resources needed to be successful."

"Selling managed services has been a challenge as we are not recognized as the leader in this space. Our sales teams do not have a good understanding on how to qualify managed services opportunities."

"I would consolidate service offers. They are confusing to the market."

"They were a strong company and I learned a lot about the phone systems."

"This company is good to work for. Only reason I left this company is because they sold the shipping dept to Celestica so I had to retire because I had enough service."

What don't you like about working at Avaya?

"The one this I disliked about the company was that they would have downsizing and the people that had to be laid off."

"Make sure that they know what they are doing. Some management, I would have to train them on their position."

"I started with Western Electric which in turn went to AT&T, Lucent, and finally became Avaya Technologies. I really enjoyed working for them but Avaya sold the shipping department to Celestica Corp."

"They need to have an open mind and be committed to the company."

What don't you like about working at Avaya?

"The only thing I did not like working for this company was that they had several layoffs and having to deal with these."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"The management was pretty good at Avaya, and most of them were good enough to train the new personnel. Some management I would have to train in some of their processes."

"I like the flexible work environment and good pay, and that it is a very respected product in the marketplace."

"Negotiate very hard on the front end of employment, because it is difficult to get more when you are hired."

"I dislike the lack of advancement opportunities. Volatile upper management reorganizations are going on and it is troubling."

"Value long-time employees and provide a more secure workplace."

"Know that you are going to work long hours. There is no job security."

"I dislike unrealistic expectations of management, insufficient IT tools, and no training for employees."
