What do you like about working at Assurant?

"Assurant cares for their employees and tries to offer the most comfortable work environment possible. At the MiamI campus, which is the largest Assurant office, we had access to a cafeteria with high-quality, inexpensive food; recreational activities including tennis/basketball/soccer/baseball/racketball courts and a gym; a postal service; on-site daycare and public elementary school (only for Assurant employees); and many many more amenities."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Unfortunately, I do not have any tips for interviewing. If someone knows someone else at Assurant, definitely do what they can to get a good word put in for them. That really helps, I would say. Other than that, dress professional, be polite, and always bring a copy of your resume!"

What don't you like about working at Assurant?

"With every good company comes bad eggs. And, unfortunately, I wound up in a department full of selfish, irresponsible, and unethical managers. Most of the department has dissolved since my departure, but there are still bad eggs spoiling other corners of the company."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Without formal management training, I cannot offer credible suggestions to Assurant. However, I do think that Human Resources is well-aware of some of the issues affecting upper management, and those issues should be brought forth and resolved."

"Opportunity to really utilize customer service skills."

"Be customer service oriented. Our clients have an expectation of engaging with the customers and building positive rapport."

"Turnover."

"When interviewing potential employees, use customer oriented questions based from the clients expectations to see if the candidate is a good match."

"I didn't use the health benefits because my husband is in the military and we have them already. Assurant gave you $24 a paycheck back for not using their medical. Awesome!"

"Be honest and work hard. And it's not data entry. :)"

"good hours; enjoyed talking to diverse people in my marketing territory; was able to work relatively independently and not be micromanaged"

"get a feel for the dynamics of the office you'll be located at. Each sales office has a different personality."

What don't you like about working at Assurant?

"Management was pretty lacking; not extremely supportive or helpful; hated that I didn't get to travel enough to build the face-to-face relationships that would've made me prosper better as a salesperson."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Needs to be more supportive of employees and really care about them as people and many times seemed very disconnected from reality of the marketplace. Too many companies don't make the personal investment in their employees that they should. If your employees feel a company cares about them, they will care about the company much more."

"Work hard and maybe you'll be rewarded if you have patience."

"The industry of insurance is a cut throat business. The stress level was high, but the compensation was appropriate for the position."

"The management/employee relationship should be better. Try to understand the employee a little better and don't make every decision based on stock price. There should be a balance between employee morale and stock price."

"From the past 6yrs I haven't experianced anything that I was not comfortable with at Assurant."

"Suggestions for managment is always show empathy as well as motivation to the employees inreturn for great service."

"You won't get the highest salary, but the benefits are good. Most promotions come within."

"Consider why you promote employees, do not just promote due to many years of service."
