"I have worked for Verizon in somcapacity since 2008. I have to say that my review of the company changed drastically when I began working in the CSSC. While compensation and benefits were well above average, the environment is very poor. Compartmentilization of poor management make the job very difficult to do. Additionally moving up in the company from this role is nearly impossible."
"Verizon IT was a good company to work in 2000. Due to offshoring of IT work, it is not a secure place to work. Layoffs are very common in Verizon. Management does not consider the onshore IT workers since they know that the work can be done in elsewhere at a cheaper rate. So your importance to the company is weak and hence your job is under threat at any moment of time."
"I have worked for Verizon for 9 years. The pressure put on me at first was not bad as the economy was good and sales of our new product was going well. As the economy was going south and dividends had to be met, it seemed as if the company was looking to punish an employee instead of helping them to develop."
"I work through another company as a contract at this Verizon location and wouldn't know that much about the company. Although I ready did like the location in Ashburn, even though it was a short commute from my home."
"I've worked for Verizon for 9 years, since March of 2005, and during that time, I've only missed 3 days of work due to sickness. I appreciated the opportunity to work and the company and to make a living for myself, but there was no room for growth or a career in the position I was in."
"Great place to work! People and work are both good."
"I was hired by a recruiter for this position. It didn't pay very well and it seemed as if since I was hired by a 3rd party that nobody treated me like I worked there. It was an alright position for the time. I ended up leaving to move out of MT to find real tech work."
"It is challenging to meet goals when different departments have different priorities. For example, it's tough to meet a sales quota when you have lined up to call a customer at a certain time, but the time to call the customer is not afforded because there are other business needs. It is very challenging to find that balance."
"I have nothing really to say about the organization but that is treating me well right now."
"I worked for Verizon since they took over in 2006. I was formally an MCI/WorldCom employee. Since the takeover Verizon has removed all work incentives and abilities to move and excel in the company."
