"I love working with people and helping them learn new things. Helping someone further their education always makes me happy. The pay for work-study tutoring is not so great, but most of the time you have the freedom to do what you want. Some students refuse to try and want everything handed to them and that is extremely annoying. Also there is a lot of free time therefore there is a lot of boredom."
"Improved my communication skills and organised well."
"It's a good experience that strengths the materials I learned, and at the same time improves my language skills."
"Helping kids is awesome. Teaching kids stuff for standardized tests is ridiculous."
"I love that I can share my knowledge in Biology with other students and encourage them to learn more. I enjoy helping the students with any areas they have difficulties in and simplifying the work for them. It is difficult for students to do distance learning and it is also a challenge for tutors to help online with no face to face contact, but this My Unisa online tool is definitely a good way to ensure that students do not feel alone in their learning."
"It's simply wonderful to be able to help people as much as I do. The satisfaction of teaching is something that is required though. Others may find though, that this position provides very little (read: no) room for advancement without very specific guidelines, i.e. a Master's Degree, for starters."
"After working for John Muir Charter School, I can honestly say it gave me a well experience where I was able to enhance my professionalism. Nothing but great memories."
"The disadvantaged students can be very disinterested in the tutoring I provide, but I know that my work is successful when I see them understanding the concepts I discuss and actively engaging in conversations with me. The joy on the parent's face is also a great reward because I know they appreciate my efforts."
"It was great experience to see myself helping out students in need, also learn how to communicate with them and reach out to them when they can't present themselves."
"This course is about signal processing area. Being a tutor of this course, I can review many key concepts such as reliability and Bayes model, which is necessary in computer science and system testing."
"I love the people I meet, the connections I make, the fact that people trust me, and I can trust those around me. I feel fulfilled to help those in need, it's quite rewarding."
"I can stay in contact with new students in my major and give them advice about living and studying."
"I love this place as that provided me an opportunity to enhance my teaching skills and by teaching students I also got motivated to further enhance my skills."
"I loved lending my language skills to others to help them achieve a better understanding of the languages they sought to learn."
"I love to help others to conquer their problems."
