"There was very little to no control over projects that you are supposed to have responsibility for. Compensation was inadequate for long hours worked. Senior management was abusive and demeaning."

"Recognize your hardest working employees more. Performance reviews should have specific metrics for measuring performance (i.e. goals and expectations should be specific and measurable, not subjective). Put a stop to the or else management style. Proper employee management and treatment will provide the motivations to keep employees on task and productive."

"I liked on-site accounts payable, being busy, and all the employees. I liked learning about everything from purchasing the land, budgeting, contracting, and watching homes being built, to the homeowner moving into their home, and then customer service for warranty work."

"I liked the great staff with a high competency level, after it was distilled through layoffs. It was the only homebuilder I'd considered coming back to after getting into commercial work, given the level of their homes and communities."

"Don't get too comfortable. This is not a long-term employer. Their extremely high turnover rate is testament to that. They're great at training you for your next job."

"The corporate structure is a minefield of middle management. There are more chiefs than Indians, and many of the company practices seemed to be put in place to justify someone's position within the company, without actually making them do anything of value."

"Simplify. Get over yourself, and simplify. Learn to have the various divisions, sub entities, and departments actually work together, instead of having them designed to be at odds with one another."
