Symantec Employee

What do you like about working at Symantec?

"The benefits are second to only the big accounting/audit firms. Great medical and vacation especially. They even cover 50% of your LASIK surgery!"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't. Go somewhere else. But if you absolutely want to interview here, every manager has their own interview style. It's really a crap shoot. Be ready for anything."

What don't you like about working at Symantec?

"Morale in the finance organization is like the game of limbo, everyone chants how low can you go! Everyone is out for themselves, both staff and management. It's a if you don't watch out, I'll stab you in the back so I can get ahead culture. The middle to senior executives are gypsies, tramps and thieves who steal the money budgeted for raises and bonuses for staff and use it towards their own compensation. The pay used to be great, but after a multi-year freeze on raises, pay is now below industry average. Additionally, there are no bonuses or stock options until you reach manager or senior manager."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Quit. Every single one of you. Especially the current CFO, who also happens to be American Airlines ex-CFO and helped drive AA into bankruptcy. They're thoroughly incompetent, lack strong leadership qualities and promote the worst employees."
