"Learned a lot, but also feel like I wasted a lot of time doing mundane tasks. Just happy to have a good paying job in the computer technology field. Overall grateful for the position. The biggest complaint is I was laid off very suddenly. Would be nice to know it's coming, or possible, and also tell me what I can do to prevent that from happening to me, if possible. My life was suddenly sideswiped by my layoff. Traumatic experience indeed."
"Good company if you just want to get a decent salary and do 8 works of junk work."
"A good company overall, but I want more say in company direction and decisions."
What do you like about working at Symantec?
"Challenging. My QA work includes software development. I like Perl."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"My interview was very easy. Perhaps advanced positions require more extensive interview process. I cannot advise on that... Response to me was at first NO, then they called me back a week later with YES. Emotional rollercoaster..."
What don't you like about working at Symantec?
"Too much mundane work. Repetitive mundane tasks gave me carpal tunnel in my wrists (maybe)."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Provide more opportunities for growth. I believe I am a strong candidate for software developer, yet they let me go, rather than pursue me to aid with more complex tasks. I could have been a great asset for them, in my opinion. Instead, I will now move on to a different company. It's their loss, in my opinion."
