What do you like about working at Staples?

"I like the people here. The only thing I don't like is that I have to work in the Copy center by myself all the time. There's never a team back here."

"Just make the manager happy and do what you're supposed to. Don't be stupid and take advantage of certain things or you'll get fired."

"Like I said before. I'm the only person working back here and so when we get really busy and there are 4 customers in line I get really stressed out. I stress out too easily already."

"I would be friendly with the associates and get to know who I was working with a little better to have that extra relationship. It would make work a lot nicer."

"Too much demand from corporate especially in low volume stores"

"You will not make enough to pay for a mortgage and other bills alone."

"I dislike the micromanagement, corporate big wigs make everyone shake in their boots when they come, which is not how it should be."

"The technology department and copy/print center full time employees should be compensated more"

"It's a job. It makes money. I enjoy working on computers, but not sales."

"Be prepared to work hard. Chances are you'll be working a shift and the store will be under staffed. Be prepared to do things you feel are not within your responsibilities."

"Always seem like we're under staffed. I do not have the tools to do my job properly. Forget about organization."

"I wouldnt do anything differently. I'm fine w/ the current management."

"Exercise honesty yourself but do not expect to be recognized and appreciated except by your immediate Manager and team members. Try to see how others in the same department feel about their job/environment before committing to accepting an offer. The hiring process is very slow so don't expect a quick decision."

"The culture has been demolished and people have become numbers - the bottom line and the shareholders are now the only important factors"

"Look seriously at your middle Management, ensure that honesty and integrity are used in communications and look after your hard working, experienced employees - it is cheaper to keep employees than to start over with training new employees."

"Our manager seems to love switching around the schedules when convenient. But I've heard stories that surprised me enough to ask how the manager in question still held a job at our outlet."

"I would listen to, and incentivize my employees. Generally act as though I give a damn."

"training program could have used a upgrade and there wasnt any real support to help generate a community awareness of our services and products"

"Rotation of shift will help instead of keeping one on graveyrad shift for two years and over."

"They pay a little more than minimum wage, with out including any type of commission, for any type of sale."

"They need to interact with the coworkers more, and not sit in the managers office the whole time."

"I really enjoy assisting customer's with determining what their needs are. All of the coworkers form a great team."

"Any EasyTech job is not really geared towards performing work on computers. The job is more focused on being an insurance salesman."

"It seems as though the only focus is selling the highest dollar amount of tech services possible, but no actual ideal to provide a quality service once they are paid for."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Listen to the ideas and suggestions of employees, and don't place all of their discontent on the store managers. Any downsides I have noticed seem to stem from the corporate level, but are placed strongly on the managers are the store level."

"Compensation plan does not meet the requirments for a hard working successful associate."

"Not to have so many outside sales representives covering the same market."

"To get a job at Staples totally be yourself, don't try to be something that your not. Because if you are not a people person then you will not fit in."

"Micromanagement. The mid level managers although company minded, really have lost touch with ground level."

"Spend a few days behind the glass observing, take the surveys to heart, and allow low level employees to comment on mid management. Upper Management is great."
