"Staples as a whole is a poor company that in my opinion is going down the drain. Employees are looked at as nothing more than numbers and have NO room for upward mobility. Pay for employees is also extremely low and then managers wonder why nobody wants to work here. Staples needs to take a step back and reassess some major company philosophies and goals."
"Originally hired in 2012, I have spent the last two years in two different management positions; Inventory Specialist and Sales and Mobility Supervisor (formerly titled EasyTech Expert). Unfortunately Staples does not see it fit to reward honest work with honest pay and seeks any means necessary to cut pay and increase productivity demands. Stricken by outdated sales processes and expectations, most members of upper management are not willing to adapt. It is not a healthy work environment."
"Staples is a great company to begin any career with."
"Staples is a company in change. Over the past 20 years it has migrated from an entrepreneurial company to a corporation. It has struggled to keep up with technologies and does not maintain technologies that make its workforce efficient. It has gone the off-shore route inefficiently and ineffectively. It's competition has migrated to Amazon, which will require a cultural shift both internally and externally with investors."
"I have worked for Staples for about 3 years, and I can honestly say that it is not a bad place to work. I have held just about every position there is at the stores, and have liked the people I have worked with. Its an easy enough job as long as you don't mind dealing with people, especially angry people."
"Not my kind of work. I don't get pay as much as I should be if I had worked at a company that specialize in it."
"Retail is a difficult environment to work in. Staples was at one time a great place to work, but with the economy faltering it has tightened the payroll belt so tight that you can't get the job done. I understand why the leadership is doing it but they need to stop living in a dream world where everything gets done when they want it. My stress level is at a point where its negatively impacting my health."
"I have worked for Staples Advantage division for over 8 years. The company is financially sound but lacks communication for procedural changes and application for field personnel. Often has unreasonable quota's that leaves little for life to work balance. The company has whole says it promotes within and does but it often takes applying several times often changing the process to move up in the company."
"I've been working for Staples since 2009 in many positions. And now I reside as the certified technician responsible for break fix upgrade setups, onsite setups, upgrades of their computers and network issues printer issues."
"I started there in November of 2013, and from my understanding, my job was to fix and repair computers, but that is not what I'm doing. It's mainly restocking and fixing shelves. Even though I enjoyed the job, I was very disappointed."
"I have worked for Staples for 4 years and have had a good time working there because of the other employees that I work with."
"The relationship I had with supervisors and staff was very good. However, there were many instances in which I felt the store was under staffed. The compensation provided for our work is also what I would consider below average. The work environment and tools provided felt average."
"It is a challenging environment. I enjoyed the people I worked with and stayed for that reason. Unfortunately, the slow advancement and compensation level has forced me to seek other employment. It can be an opportunity for the correct individuals. It's a long road and a culture that must be fully adopted. Individuality is praised as long as that individual conforms to ever changing cultural standards."
"Company IT department is in havoc. I had 7 managers in past 5 years."
"I've worked at Staples for more than 3 years, and I found it a very rewarding experience. I got to work on many different kind of projects, which helped me grow in my career, as well as give different views on specific subjects. It also allowed me to input my ideas into something people will be using all the time."
