"I have worked as a Shift Supervisor for Rite Aid on two separate occasions. The first time I worked there for 6 years, and the second time for 8 very long months. The first time was far better than the first because I had an amazing team to work with. The second time was a nightmare. Rite Aid has never really cared about it’s store employees, but before the pandemic our stores were fully staffed and the workload manageable. Now it’s a whole other story. The corporate structure is woefully out-of-touch with the realities of what is actually happening in their stores. Stores are dangerously understaffed because company pay isn’t competitive. I recently left for an easier job making a lot more money. Corporate makes one change after another with the expectation of immediate implementation on a store level. Not one change they’ve made has even been feasible. Corporate bigwigs dictate from their Ivory Tower while the folks actually doing the work in their stores are drowning. There’s no real opportunity for advancement. If you hire in at store level that’s exactly where you’ll stay. I have a Master’s degree, and a friend of mine has a degree from Univ. of Michigan, and neither one of us would ever be considered for a job at corporate level. It’s a sad state of affairs at Rite Aid. They’re going downhill fast."
