"Worked for Rent-A-Center for 4 years. The company was ok to work for. They asked for a lot and gave little praise or appreciation. I left do to the extreme work schedule of 9 am to 8 pm. I have 2 children, 1 who has cerebral palsy and wanted to be home with them more."

"Develop marketable skills. Sales, collections, management. If you can sell a RAC RA, you can sell anything."

"Get out while you can of you want a family, value time with you loved ones."

"Work-life balance Nonexistent. Pay Less then 35 k (despite a min. 50 hour week)."

"Properly staff your stores with an adequate number of employees (not 4-7 per store) PAY MORE"

"When interview for this company please be advised of the handbook and utlize it if need be. Some management will take advantage of the fact that employees do not know what they recieve for being an employee and what they can use if any issues arise."

"Some issue that have happened with me in the past were not delt with in a proper manner as required."

"When some issue arise do not try and sweep them under the rug because in the long run they will hurt the company in the long run, as well as the store."

"It allows you to meet various types of people from different walks of life."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"make sure you get a descriptive insite on the job that you are about to embark on. when I was hired all that I was asked was would I have a problem working 50 hours a week. what they don't tell you is that you have to work on saturdays, you have one day out of the week off along with sunday and if your past-due accounts are high you are required to work as late as 9pm on any given night. one other thing that I noticed is that they don't like to give you a day off even if it's an emergency."

What don't you like about working at Rent-A-Center?

"The hours are grueling, the compensation is inadequate for the irrate customers that you have to deal with and the consistent complaining of upper management when you don't get a 5.9% of total past due accounts."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"to quit holding hard-working employees accountable for the lack of a consumer deciding that they are not going to pay their bills. Acknowledge that the employees that they have are appreciated and give an increase of pay seeing as how this is a multi-million dollar company they should make employees actually want to work there instead of quitting as soon as possible. the turn-over rate of employees with this company is horrible. give the employees more than 2 days out of a year off (sick-days)."

"Helping customers in certain income ranges to obtain merchandise they could not otherwise afford through the rent-to-own program."

"Upper management's only advice on issues obtaining daily/weekly numbers was you can be replaced."

"Learn how to encourage your employees in aiding them to resolve issues rather than just threatening their employment status."
