"Management needed to take a more active role with their teams by taking escalations, being more accessible to help out, and by laying down more severe punishment for those with poor customer service skills."

"They had great benefits. They paid for the first half of my Master's degree... that is before they eliminated my department and laid me off (actually they waited until I found another job so they didn't have to pay me a package)"

"Focus on process, being a task master and execution. They don't have time or room for innovation so... skip that part"

What don't you like about working at Qwest?

"Their management team isn't very in tune with the market... even their product managers seemed to lack an understanding of what the market wants/needs."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Reorg from the product manager level and up on the product and strategy side. You have direct, active access to a huge audience of SMB owners who need lots of different marketing services. You are failing them (as well as your stock holders) hard on your limited product offerings and delivery of value... you obviously don't understand the web and you can't take off the blinders and see what you have."

"The opportunities for personal and professional growth. The benefits and salary are like no other I have experienced. It is a union based company but also an open forum for communication on all levels. I would go back in a heart beat!"

"Be prepared for a fast paced, metric driven environment that is continuously charged with challenge from employees, customers, stockholders, PUC's etc. You must be prepared to answer to every player."

"It was demanding but very satisfying."

"Set back and listen a little more to both it's customers and employees, understand the potential for improvements and potential for profitable gains based on the connective perceptions. Listen to the bad and change it for good. Sounds simple but not sure it's happening, especially if new members of management are not familiar with the union and it's strategies."

"what I like is the people I got assigned to work with at first, that was the team I wanted, and teamwork is always there when it comes to completing the job before the due date...we were the best team of the portland installation group,I say that because we had to step into a job at lake oswego to finish all necessary unfinished jobs requirements over nite to meet the due date and we felt so important after the assignments was done on time....good feelings of accomplishments was brought to our attention.."

"I say just work hard and be your self"

What don't you like about working at Qwest?

"new manager has a game called devide &conquer and likes to micro manage our group specially when I was working with the electrician and she shows up and pulls me away from my work and harass me about the company van why I'm not using it to go to work, I didnt know really what to say so I said that I was running a little late to meet with the electrician guy so I just used my truck to be there on time."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"managements down south is not a problem to me but the management in portland in the year of 2000 needs not to -micromanage- and -bad mouth-the groups and she uses people, to snitch and do most jobs for her while she's away,"
