"It allowed me to step out from being a Property Manager to becoming a more Senior Manager with responsibility for a greater area of accountability. As the Project Management Coordinator IV, I oversaw the whole program of Section 8 housing (Housing Choice Voucher Program). I was more accountable to the Executive staff and Director of the Program, and got to fill in for these managers not reporting to work. Dealing with staff, and management gave me a different perspective to how all came together to completing the mission of the authority while dealing with adversity and residents on a daily basis. I dislike the complaints and resident bickering. I managed the Board of Compliance for Occupancy and existing residents. We would inform resident or potential resident of what they need to do to comply, and people still would not come with proper paperwork or date to overturn their refusal to house decision. "Property Management can be very rewarding but it can also take a toll on your sanity. It is not a job for people who are not comfortable dealing constantly with people and all the situations that this involves. I loved making a difference in the lives of people looking to call their apartment home. The hard part for me was dealing with a cycle that repeats every month, and without new challenges can be very repetitive."
