What do you like about working at Broadcom?
"Good communication with scientists and engineers. Many very dedicated and hardworking."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"If you come from a strong SW background - make sure you understand. What they have now is like building a new house on a lot with an existing tear down. You're going to be getting dirty before doing any real building."
What don't you like about working at Broadcom?
"This company grew up designing great HW products. The new standards for wireless end up requiring more SW - a lot more. The senior management - many with great engineering backgrounds - simply do not have the training or experience to develop larger scale embedded systems. When Intel shows up with the Armada of competitive products built into their SOCs - it will all be over but the shouting."

"Hire strong SW people and get out of the way."

"Company highly ethical, trust their employees. Work is challenging."

"Should be good in data structures, algorithms and problem solving."

"Facility can be improved to have some fun activities during the work hours."

"Facility can be improved and company can spin off their business."

"Working in a chanllenging team with nice team members is my dream. I am nice team player. I would like team members could support each other."

"You should have very strong technical computer science skill. Some Linux machine knowlege should have."

"I don't like finger point. Not respect to each other."

"Get more feedback before making decision, expecially for the schedule."

"The projects and the people I work with. The projects range from simple 1 person projects to very complicated, with multiple processors and teams of software developers."

"Don't as job security is very poor. You may end up needing to find a new job within the next few montys."
What don't you like about working at Powerwave Technologies?
"The direction of the company. We are losing a lot of money and we may soon all lose our jobs."

"1. Treat your customers better. Our revenue has dropped, partially as our industry has struggled since the tech bust, but also because a lot of our customers don't like working with us.2. Direction - A lot of projects we work on end up getting cancelled or end up not getting any sales orders."

"Be flexible and enthusiastic. Contractors are welcome. Be willing to work on cross-site teams with a remote supervisor or manager."

"Recent uncertanty in the medicare, health care insurance and related legislation has made the work environment very uncertain and has resulted in several rounds of lay-offs."

"Be careful of loosing too many long-term employees in the name of cost cutting as they hold the knowledge of processes, tools and other IP."

"Although I do not regret my decision to work for them, I would not do it again."

"Goals were frequently changed without much of a plan. Yesterday's most important thing in the world was often replaced by today's most important thing in the world."

"Make sure that products are a better defined and a better market fit. Very often, as opposed to a search path iteration for the right product, too many things were overspecified with some barely even suggested."

"The work assignment and the defined process for product development."

"I was interviewed by a manager who believed in my skills. It is unique in the sense that I told them that I have not worked in the areas of their interest. They had faith in my ability and attitude to learn quickly and contribute. I lived up to their expectation."

"At times, the management confuses in the product strategy and direction."

"Have a consistent message. Work on opportunities instead of focusing heavily on old product lines."

"Almost no team-building activities at the local office. No attention to personal or career growth."

"All management is focused up the org chart. Some attention to the troops is part of managing. Many companies have a game room, regular company update meetings, monthly barbecues, etc."
