"If politics is your passion and you have no conscience that would stop you from walking in at the end of a project and claiming credit for all of it, your opportunities for advancement are limitless! But if you have any integrity at all, run away as fast as you can!"
What don't you like about working at Raytheon?
"An environment where politics and bureaucracy dominate and employees are treated like garbage. Managers were always brought in from the outside, sending the message that there is no career advancement. Those who do advance do so by claiming credit for the work of others. Too much of the work is about satisfying the whims of bosses rather than what's useful or good for the company. A lot of wasted effort."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Create a culture that encourages innovation and teamwork rather than politics and back-stabbing."
What do you like about working at Medtronic?
"I enjoyed working with competent engineers developing medical devices from chips to product."

"I would recommend being relaxed and confident when answering interview questions."
What don't you like about working at Medtronic?
"The sometimes large gaps where there was not enough to work on when chip, or hardware development had serious schedule slips."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"I would recommend better up front market analysis, especially for in hospital products. This may actually be happening since the VP of R&D has changed since I left."

"Nice open work environment and given lots of freedom of how to go about the work as long as work is done in good quality."

"Prepare on your C++ and Unix skills, don't have to dress in formal."

"Frequent changes and priorities about the product development. No right vision."

"Fix up on a right strategy and see it to completion. Don't put hands into too many things."

"Project scheduling has had issues which has resulted in lots of fire fighting and constant overdue deadlines."

"Difficult task, but need better estimates of work required for future contracts."

"Great placed to become a key contributor, but be prepared to work"

"We are so understaffed. I am sinking in work. Problems come at me so fast I can't catch my breath. I want to telecommute but management says no"

"be more decisive, address inter-departmental politics, get everybody on the same page, promote champions/technology leaders"

What do you like about working at KMC Systems?
"They pay me, I have friends there, good friends. When they leave, I'll leave. Don't like leaving people behind."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Don't. Run. It's far worse than you know. If your good you'll be worked to death. If not you'll be protected as part of head count. If they are working you hard, then they don't protect you, your too visible, your not a head count asset for your manager. In short the better you are the more you need to watch your ass."

"The management is beyond grossly incompetent, it's all office politics. Eventual the parent company will figure this out and shut it down."

"Full control of my job, chalenging job, new task on every few months"

"make sure you know the company culture, vision and roadmap"

"no clear vision, no roadmap defined, poor management and no direct interface with high management people"

"talk to engineers once in a while, 3 year roadmap, more training neeed."

"Not really. Its no different than working at HP or IBM."

"Sucks if you want to grow. You get pigeon holed."

"Remove layers. Give engineers more say. Get rid of half your product managers - most suck!"

"Check who is going to be your manager and how is management s type, there are a lot of talented software engineers, the problem is the management."

"Benefits are very good, the training and option to get a degree while working is excellent, great engineers, location"

"a change need to be done in the management level, lately too many unqualified manger with no software development experience managing software development groups."

"Ask for a lot as raises are matrix based, and once you hit the top 3rd of your pay band you won't be getting much annually."

"The upper management, in particular the CEO. He views all employees as if this is there first job, even the professional employees, and treats them as replaceable cogs."

"Stop treating all employees as replaceable cogs. Throw away the merit increase matrix. Build more career paths for professional employees."
