"Very hard to progress upward. Standards change with each acquisition."

"Limit outsourcing; define path to success; stick to path; make path clear to employees, less dependence on managers who have no knowledge of your work."

"Have a clearance, don't expect exceptional money, know their products, at least cursorily."
What don't you like about working at Oracle?
"Being a contractor, in a field that changes at an alarming rate, trying to keep up with all the new technologies and products is overwhelming. Yet my group in the company makes its money by billable hours from the contract I support, so they want me to spend all of my full-time billing to the customer, but expect me to also do tasks for my company and stay knowledgeable in my field, which seriously is like having another entire full-time job on the side that I am not getting paid to do."
What do you like about working at Oracle?
"The salary is great (awesome). Working from home is also awesome. My direct manager gives me the freedom to do my job without micro managing. I also have great benefits (health) and lots of resources to draw upon."

"It's a very big company, be prepared for corporate life."
What don't you like about working at Oracle?
"I could get laid off any minute and have no idea why. That may not be factually correct, but that's the impression people tend to have. We hear about very small RIF's on a fairly regular basis and it's usually, did you hear so-and-so got laid off today? We tend to be cogs in the wheel, easily replaced or removed."

"I'd treat employees less like a number and more like valued employees. I'd also work to break the wall between the executives and everyone else."

"There do not seem to be many opportunities for those that do not work at headquarters."

"Closing deals and working with different clients. The traveling was good but I am traveling 90."
