Management interaction is sparse as you are expected to be a self starter and a go out and get em type of guy. Direction sometimes is lacking so that may be the one downfall. "Have a clearance, don't expect exceptional money, know their products, at least cursorily."

"Being a contractor, in a field that changes at an alarming rate, trying to keep up with all the new technologies and products is overwhelming. Yet my group in the company makes its money by billable hours from the contract I support, so they want me to spend all of my full-time billing to the customer, but expect me to also do tasks for my company and stay knowledgeable in my field, which seriously is like having another entire full-time job on the side that I am not getting paid to do."
