"I loved working with customers. After being there for 5 years, there were quite a few customers with whom I had created a great relationship with."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Don't bother!!! If you do plan on it anyway, be prepared to work FOR someone, not with them. They don't respect associates, or managers (below the store manager) in any way, shape or form."
What don't you like about working at OfficeMax?
"My immediate supervisors micro-managed every thing that I did, and didn't allow me any creative license when it came to doing my job. They didn't care whatsoever about the way that I felt about my job and expected me to be able handling doing 10000 things at once, putting little focus on customer service, which in my mind, was the whole reason that I was there."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"I would actually care about my employees. I would listen to what they had to say and not micro-manage the crap out of them. I would treat them like human beings who were there to work just like I was, and not like minions that I had there to do my will."

"The knowledge that I was helping sick individuals who need the medicine made from the plasma collected."

"Professionalism is important, even if the setting does not feel like it is going that way remember to keep it professional."

"Too often excessive hours were demanded with no gratitude in exchange. There were clicks within the facility that undermined the supervisor/employee relationship."

"Listen to the employees, get out of the office for more than smoke breaks"

"It's a great place for a lot of people without a degree."

"Do not work for this place. the job is insecured, lay off is happening every quarter, the place is a mess inside. FAA will knock on their door anytime soon for all the illegal practices."

"Get rid of the current Management. Get the new management that understand the business and respect the employees. Right now, they are treating employees like crap."

"There was not much room for growth because they are a small bank."

"I would suggest they would allow more cross training for all employees."

"Everything. The union runs the company. The management does not appreciate the first line supervisors."

"I would show the employees that I appreciate them a little more. Give them more praise and raises more often."

"the people, atmosphere, and the industry worked. the different customer service representatives interacted with along with the culture."

"once the current management team departs, tthis will be the most ideal place of employment"

"the upper management team/ they make personal decisions versus business decisions. pick and choose promotions on buddy system not by other criteria"

"to be fair and impartial when it comes to rewards and punishments. be professional at all times and conduct accordingly."

"I respect the fact that they use lean six sigma to improve there processes."

"The initial amount of money you go in at is about what you will be making 3-5 years after working with the company, regardless of your positive results."

"The night shift hours for over 3 years (5 PM to 3 AM)."

"Alternating of the associate shifts and paying the associates what they deserve would improve the atmosphere."

"I enjoy my coworkers, the technial problem solving, and the importance of my customer base. It is a challenge most days."

"Be honest and don't expect a warm corporate culture that will embrace you. It is a big company and it feel as such, especially lately."

"There is a severe lack of advancement opportunities. We have also gone through a lot of mergers and aquisitions that has fragmented the company and muddied the corporate culture to a point where I think we lack an internal identity."

"Invest in your human capital and the bottom line will follow, but it does not work the other way around."

"Currently I am able to telecommute with a rotating schedule."

"This is a great company if you are looking at working at home and do not have the desire to advance."

"Currently the company has started Outsourcing lot of its positions."

"Do not micro manage. When you put the person you hire to do the job let them do it."

"The people and it's culture. We spent 6 years changing the way people think with great success."

"Great company-mention motivation and initiative. You can make a difference at the hourly level be recognized for your efforts then promoted on your ability not longevity."

"I have to move in order to get promoted. It's a small hierarchy at the plant level-I do not want to move to Boston."

"Keep doing what you are doing. People are engaged and the Leadership in Development classes, plus Boot Camps are turning our employees into leaders and our Leads actually lead not working leads."

"Challenges of successful completion of treatment of water. Nuclear field (experienced). Ability to lead and teach others."

"Very large company. Subcontracts most jobs. Temporary job (will end)."

"Ability to comply with the procedure at all times. Subcontractor management hinders site work, not aid it."

"Listen to their people. Do the right thing when no one is watching (have integrity). Have respect for others and people is their number 1 asset."

"My likes are: the pay, salary, insurance, supervisor, part-time, shipping gifts, mail money."

"Be honest, have integrity, don't downplay your leadership skills, and have a hardworking attitude."

"My dislikes are: terrible hours, late night shift, need more employees, terrible training."

"I would suggest that everything is organized, with better training and management. Hire different people and have less time at work."
