"National Oilwell Varco is cool."
"Was a good company until layoff came about. After that the company became unusual."
"I have worked for NOV the last 5 years. In the beginning, there was potential and excitement - a new job! However, things then started slowing down and soon I realized there was no motivation or upward movement for anyone. There are no incentives, and it became a day to day job."
"No problems to write about."
"I have been working with National Oilwell Varco since, August 2014. The company is a leading manufacturer of oil and gas drilling equipment. I work in the rig systems business unit. Within the period of 7 months I have a great exposure on project management, process improvement and opportunity to lead various cross-functional team and improvement projects. The only negative side is the cyclical nature of the oil and gas industry where there is always an uncertainity"
"NOV is a good company to work for. I have had a good time there, and would be a good fit for a lot of people who seek job security."
"I have worked for NOV from 2010 - 2012."
"The director for the department I was in had zero background in that departments area of operation. Instead of deferring to those that were hired with the skill set required to do the job they frequently insisted on micro managing the group to the point of implosion."
"I've worked for NOV for over 3 yrs. The workplace environment is average to above average, depending on your department. Pay seems somewhat fair from what I've seen. However, I would warn those who are minorities seeking employment in account management or sales with NOV. It is still a good old boy type company, so be prepared to hear certain jokes and racial slurs. Management and HR typically doesn't take race seriously, but they do seem to have a zero tolerance policy on sexuall harassment."
"Good company to work for."
"NOV in and of its self is not a bad company. The location and situation in the PA area make it very difficult to have a personal/ family life."
"I worked for NOV from June 2012 through the end of 2013. Although I was one of many released from a certain office due to budget cuts, I greatly enjoyed my time with this company. The company as a whole is large and growing every day, so there is always room for growth. The salary was sufficient. The management was great and the over all culture was one that encouraged hard work through independence, team work, and fun. Would definitely work for this employer again and recommend this company."
"Very laid back atmosphere and friendly managers. Work/life balance is very good, however the salary is quite low."
"There is a lot of husband-wife, father-son, inter-family employment. It's really all about WHO you KNOW. Sucks - I don't know anyone."
