"LA Fitness. Needs to start being more about the customers and less on sales. We lose a lot of clientele due to that."

"A terrible company to work for. Incredibly poor ethics. I was lied to in the interview about compensation and that I would essentially be a bill collector for 95% of the day. There are so many lies and shady strategies for success in this company, it's ridiculous. Literally on all levels the only thing they care about is money no matter how you get it. They fire people at their own whim without any forethought, coaching or warning. Work here only as a last resort!!"

What don't you like about working at LA Fitness?

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would provide more structure in areas where policies are unclear, and allow more flexibility where it is needed."

Fitness Counselor

"I love working here!"

What do you like about working at LA Fitness?

"I like the growth! I have the best two sales people in the state working as my GM and my WGM."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"You have to have a passion for fitness. Plain and simple, if you aren't excited about helping someone get in shape, they will be able to tell. I love what I do, so this is far from a job to me. When coming in, find out what makes the best the best. What I've learned is to build the value of the club up. I even let the person know that if they have any questions about anything in our gym at any time, that they can and should come up and grab me and ask. I show them the proper way to lift on my tours, and when I'm working out there, I've worked out with some of the members I signed up. Everyone that I have enrolled loves me and sends people to me all the time. This is how I'm number two in the state at the senior sales counselor, and I've only been there now 40 days. Unlike other jobs I've put in the time and busted my butt, for the first time coming early and staying late is getting me promoted faster than any other job I've ever worked. Again, this career isn't for everyone. I just hate people bashing a company and industry I've grown to love!"

What don't you like about working at LA Fitness?

"It would be nice to make more than 7.25 at first. But now that I'm breaking draw ($580 your sales commission needs to be more than 7.25 full-time to get paid more), I love working here."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Keep lighting a fire under the sales team's butt!! They are the best two in the state for a reason. They have great training and are willing to take the time out to explain everything. Because of how great my management is, I'm looking to get promoted. I'm the number two salesman in the state, and I've been with the company for 39 days!"

What do you like about working at LA Fitness?

"I get to interact with people all day. I love talking with other people and sharing thoughts and ideas with our members."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't expect a lot of growth or accommodation. It does not pay well if you're working at the front desk."

What don't you like about working at LA Fitness?

"My boss doesn't do her job, so I have to pick up the slack. She gets paid substantially more than I do, but I do most of her work as well as mine, without the pay. I make minimum wage plus commission, but that isn't enough for me to support myself. I have no problem helping other people if they need me to, but I dislike getting dumped on by my boss when she decides she doesn't feel like coming in to work or helping a customer."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I'd make sure our customers' needs were met immediately. Most of the time people are given the run-around, and I don't like that at all. Our staff should be more helpful and more accommodating."

Assistant General Manager

What do you like about working at LA Fitness?

"It's a great environment. For an ex-professional athlete, having the ability to work out was awesome."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Please have a strong sales persona. You are required to gather and turn your own leads into sales."

What don't you like about working at LA Fitness?

"I dislike the hard cap on growth beyond assistant general manager. The culture is very negative with employees for this reason. The turnover rate is huge from a management standpoint."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Change the culture of your employees by acknowledging their commitment and hard work. Also, have a better lead generation program."
