What suggestions do you have for management?

"Have more focus on follow-through and implementation of programs that create a long-term career."

Operations Manager

"Do not work for LA Fitness unless you are completely desperate for money and a job."

What do you like about working at LA Fitness?

"The jobs are easy, and they will hire anybody. Also, you get to look at pretty co-eds all day."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"You will be lied to during your interview regarding how much money you will make and about the career and advancement opportunities. If they told people the truth during the interview process, the company would have a difficult time getting anybody to accept a job."

What don't you like about working at LA Fitness?

"Wow, where do I begin? Employees are treated like dirt, it's all about sales and that's it, and upper management is incompetent. People making the decisions in the corporate office have not a clue. They need to go work inside the clubs and get a clue as to what is going on and how their decisions affect employees who are dealing with the customers."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I realize sales is the bottom line, but re-direct some focus back onto customer service and not harassing people before they become members, while they are members, and even after they are members. Also a memo to district VPs... quit cheating on your wives and treating your sales staff the way you do. Training sales needs to be completely revamped - very shady sales tactics."

Training Manager

"Meant to burn you out of all ambitions, and use all your time for as long as you allow."

What do you like about working at LA Fitness?

"I like the POTENTIAL income, clients, and that co-workers are responsible. It is convenient for those who are in need of a workout midday."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Keep looking. The job is made to burn you out, then hire another person with fresh ambitions to wring out."

What don't you like about working at LA Fitness?

"There are no standards or regulation of advancement qualifications, and an unprofessional high management. There is constant change in the company to an uncomfortable and inconvenient level."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"It is a private company that DESPERATELY needs to go public. Set standards for employee training, and have accountability of higher management."

General Manager

What don't you like about working at LA Fitness?

"I dislike not being able to do things that make facilities clean and nicer to help our customer."

Operations Manager

"You have to be desperate to work here. Run away fast if you're recruited to work here."

What do you like about working at LA Fitness?

"I only used this job while I searched for REAL job. You are a glorified bill collector, and that is what you spend most of your day doing."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"This was the worst company I ever worked for. Only do it if you need the money."

What don't you like about working at LA Fitness?

"The commission structure is terrible and always changing without notice. I dislike the very unprofessional upper management, no support staff, and harassing people to pay their bill."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would suggest zero communication from the VPs and corporate office. They make decisions and don't communicate them down to the workers."

Personal Trainer

"Sales, sales, sales. A shady place."

What do you like about working at LA Fitness?

"I like the chance to talk to attractive girls, the free gym membership, and the discount on supplements. That is about the only benefit."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't, unless you're super salesy, then go for it. If you're a real trainer who wants to help people, don't even bother."

What don't you like about working at LA Fitness?

"You'd be better off working at McDonald's unless you're super salesy. I made $300 my first month there, because if you make $5/hr while in training, then after that, it's all commission. There are no benefits, and you can make as little as $100 a month. They want salesmen. I was the only qualified trainer there with a degree. All others had sales backgrounds and a three-day apex certification, which two of those days focused on how to sell their supplements (which is just plain unethical, as the language you are supposed to use is very misleading). Your job is to hound members over and over again to buy training or supplements, whether they are interested or not. It was a shady place whose only concern is making $$$ for the company. There was even an expose on one of the news channels a few years ago about how easy it is to get a job there with no qualifications or background in exercise."

General Manager

"LA Boxing is a position I took after a layoff in a struggling market."

What do you like about working at LA Fitness?

"I like the people, unique selling proposition, and the market place."

What don't you like about working at LA Fitness?

"I dislike the pricing structures, touch-and-go corporate involvement, and pressure sales."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"There are several structure issues."

Personal Trainer

"A good place to start."

What do you like about working at LA Fitness?

"I like my clients."

What don't you like about working at LA Fitness?

"I dislike the pay."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Listen to the trainers and the clients."

Operations Manager

"The executive structure did not coincide with my expectations of professionalism."

What do you like about working at LA Fitness?

"I liked the close proximity to my residence, and the opportunity to care for my health."

What don't you like about working at LA Fitness?

"The team efforts were not coexistent. The management lacked professionalism."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Management should have meetings to discuss improvement. The company procedures and manual should be available for a quality operation."

General Manager

"Dead end."

What do you like about working at LA Fitness?

"I liked communication with members and helping them with their goals."

What don't you like about working at LA Fitness?

"I disliked being required to work off the clock with no compensation."

General Manager

"LA Fitness was a great place to work, but the salary was unable to pay my bills, to be quite honest."

What do you like about working at LA Fitness?

"I liked the great work environment."

What don't you like about working at LA Fitness?

"The training could have been more indepth."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Take the time to work with new hires, and make sure they comprehend what is expected of them."
