"Know your stuff- Jake (IS Director) does, and he'll tell right away if you're BSing him."

"The pay is very low considering my experience. And counsellors are under high stress, which results in high turnover for their side of the business."

"Better pay attracts and retains better people. Regular cost-of-living increases would be a definite plus."

"The company is going through rebuilding and uncertainty right now. They sold the solid waste division and IT amongst its business units are converging to save costs."

"A management team should focus on employee business engagements to better the relationships between IT and the business in order to implement the given tasks at hand effectively and efficiently."

"Very little. The career prospects only favor those who are fluent in corp bull."

"Do your research... learn about ITSM and all the other big corp drives and initiatives. Unless you know about these it's game over. Just remember hard work only gets you more hard work, so learn corp speak."
What don't you like about working at Caterpillar?
"if you have heart, soul and passion... best leave this at the door, because unless you can live the Caterpillar way... you won't fit in. God help you if you ever tell the truth, as the company does not appreciate that, and will find a way to get rid of you... usually in the Trough Activity."

"Put more emphasis on really looking after the people, not trying to make them conform to a big yellow sky... actually do more with the EOS... not just create more work and spread sheets to justify taking action."

What do you like about working at Caterpillar?
"This company bogs you down in spread sheets and procedures and only favors the people that create this rubbish. True grass roots workers have there soul crashed to make them conform to the company's sheep herding attitude... a very depressive company to work for, and you will soon find complaining will only lead you to be branded a non team player or that you have an attitude, and they wonder why their sickness levels are so high."

"If you can squeeze yourself into the yellow mold, you will fit in. If you have passion and soul you won't."
What don't you like about working at Caterpillar?
"Too much red tape, too much emphasis put on people that produce stats and figures... support staff are simply treated as nobodys."

"Start to look after the people who keep the systems alive... not repress them."
