"When you prepare individual contributors for management roles, make sure they are ready and have hands-on resources to support and guide them until they are solid in their new role."

"Stay away from the web development group. Stick with Desktop software, or the Quickbooks team."
What don't you like about working at Intuit?
"They put me in a group that had no interest in the project I was working on. They made it close to impossible to get help and support. Even so, I succeeded in coming through, and I was not recognized for that success."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"When you build something, don't separate the tool from the foundation it's built on. When you ask someone to build a system, make sure the folks developing the foundation software are responsive to their clients. Recognize success when you see it."
