"My rating was based on my work employment experience with my previous employer that was a privately held company versus Intertek that was a public company. On boarding and basic training for utilizing the system was a bit inconsistent as well as the criteria used by different audit report reviewers."

Intertek Group Employee

"I would not think of recommending this company to anyone. All Intertek seems to care about is the current month's revenue. The company is too cheap for its own good. I witnessed new lab employees getting 4+-year-old laptops. Some of the stuff was so old, people could not even do their job effectively. I was once denied a $20 USB thumb drive because my manager at the time wanted some other group to pay for it. The IT infrastructure in many US locations is obsolete and goes down more often then it should: Few managers want to spend money on hardware or the people to support it. Nothing but fire drills to get systems back up and running with the business screaming at you because they could not do their job. In the Information Technology Department, there is no room for advancement. There is not even an allocated budget for IT training. Pay is not great. Raises are minimal. One year, they even screwed me out of most of my bonus. In many cases, when Intertek acquired another company, IT management refused to insist that the acquisition integrates into the central IT support model. This not only resulted in shadow IT groups within the business that basically did what they wanted to, but it ended up costing Intertek a fortune in the long run which no one seemed to care about as there was no immediate expense for the integration. During my tenure, upper IT management didn't seem to have a clue on how the "real world" worked. They often just hired people they favored from jobs they had held at other companies ... and they didn't even try to cover up the fact that this was happening. I applied for one internal job and during my interview was told that the job was already filled by someone who they presumably just found by canvassing the internet. The stress is enormous and they just throw you away when they are done with you. Please don't work here unless you are truly desperate for the money!"

"The company has many financial issues, starting from the CEO and the leadership of every Intertek location. There is no bonus for the employees or salaries raise and there is not room for growth. They do not train you to use Ariba, or any other invoices system. Employees are given a lot of job duties, but the company does not give you a document with your job descriptions, and most of their managers are men and white. No room for diversity. A clueless CEO that has the nerve to talk about growth in a video with Coldplay music in it and with no plans for the future, no strategy, and he does not even mention how the tax reform will affect the company and can benefit us. He did not even have a PowerPoint presentation with numbers and explanations for the new upcoming year goals. They give you too much work with no training and what is worse, unrealistic deadlines. They do not pay you your overtime and they will make you erase your overtime from your time sheet. The technology and the facilities look like a third world country company!"

"Horrible place for a career, great place for fast pace and long hours to refine skills learned in school. Zero positive motivation, threatened with job loss if you question management. Moral throughout Chicago (Romeoville) office is at the lowest level possible. I believe problem stems from upper management, GM is in several employees opinion bringing this location to it knees. Continuous video monitoring of lab personal has dropped this place lower in many current employee opinions. This location is toxic and to be avoided at all costs!!!!"

"I've work for Intertek company for a year in electrical section as an engineer. The working environment is perfect. All my colleagues and supervisors are really professional on their tasks, except one who was really a dark point in the company."

"I worked for Intertek since 2007. Great company, but after being there for 7 years I don't see a future for me with the company. My co-workers are like family and it's a great place to work. Like I said before, I don't see a future with the company."

"No communication to ensure clarity on company wide goals and objectives, limited trust in employees, and very short term focused.Management needs to seriously reassess its organizational culture and instill a positive team based, value driven, business model that drives a sense of urgency to improve and focus on service quality and delivery.Very limited opportunity for advancement even if performance exceeds expectations/goals/objectives, consistently, year on year.Tread carefully."

QA Analyst

"I've worked for Intertek since February 2013. Intertek is the industry leader with over 35,000 people in 1,000 locations in over 100 countries. I've found that Intertek is a strong company and it has so many multiple locations all over the world. Intertek is the only test facility authorized to test on every major mobile platforms, including True Brew, Java Verified, MOTOREADY, Microsoft Windows Partner program."

"I worked at Intertek for almost 4 months and was eventually let go, (along with everyone else) because they took on twice as many people and kept losing work. There was no relationship with our supervisor to speak of because we were all contractors and expected to do our jobs and keep up metrics. If they thought you were a decent worker they would have you train other people whom often were being trained for different departments. Not horrible for the money, but not the best either."

QA Testing Engineer

"I've worked at Intertek for the past two years. The environment was great for a while and I got along well with my immediate supervisors and my co-workers. The pay was sub-par for a QA testing position, most of the people are contractors, and they dangle the idea of being an employee to keep you motivated. The General Manager is my biggest complaint because he regularly violated HR rules and it seems you only get fired for reporting him to HR. As I left it felt like I couldn't trust the management."

Sales Manager

"A collection of acquired businesses with no corporate culture or core identity."

What do you like about working at Intertek Group?

"The benefits package is above average and the employees are hard-working and dedicated."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you are a technical person who wants to have a technical career, Intertek may be adequate. For sales, marketing and business management personnel, you will be very disappointed in this organization. It sees itself as a technical/ engineering company as if that is an excuse for poor service delivery, poor management and disenfranchised sales personnel."

What don't you like about working at Intertek Group?

"Disorganized, weak leadership with no chain of command and multiple personnel with overlapping responsibility/ authority that causes confusion relative to decision making. No plan to integrate the many acquired businesses other than management platitudes directing that it be done."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Reduce the overwhelming number of management staff and create a recognizable organizational structure. Management is not capable of this."
