"I really liked organizing content into a wonderfully wrapped up course but I need a bit more gratification. Working as a developer, I always was gratified after I completed a task, or found the problem with an application."

Instructional Designer at DirecTV
in El Segundo, CA

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"Worst temp assignment I've ever taken. Miserable. Felt like a slave."

What do you like about working at DirecTV?

"Nothing. I wasted a year here in Consumer Premise Engineering to find a new job but they ultimately laid me off."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Avoid Consumer Premise Engineering, other groups aren't as bad. However keep in mind this company has major nepotism issues (you can find reviews everywhere stating this) so don't expect a warm cozy work environment, you will always be competing in unnecessary and unmotivating ways."

What don't you like about working at DirecTV?

"Bullying management. Authoritarian style, ignores you if you do well, reprimands you for not reading his mind. Management by threats, no leadership at all. Like working in a factory. Manager steals work, unclear direction, poor communicator. Upper management interviewed me and knew of the bullying but told me there was nothing they would do about it. Reported discrimination and was ignored. Very backward methods of management. Training only offered to family and friends, other employees given no training, then reprimanded for not being up to speed. Management sets up non-family and friends up for failure."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Hire manager that have management experience. Give all employees training, not just the favorites and your family."

Instructional Designer at ConsultNet

"Worst temp agency in the U.S."

What do you like about working at ConsultNet?

"Nothing. This is a sub-par temporary recruiting firm that doensn't come close to comparing to professional firms like Tek System and other companies."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Find a different recruiter, these guys aren't worth it. Or if you do have to take a job for financial reason with them be working on finding another one and quit asap."

What don't you like about working at ConsultNet?

"I was placed on a job that didn't relate to what I was told, had nothing to do with my skill set and I was forced to take jobs that had no relation to my work.. I was told that if I move to LA from San Diego for this job that it would go full time, but the client told me that Consultnet lied to me to get me take the job. I reported discrimination and harrassment and was ignored. I asked for my personnel file and was denied. In the over 1 year I worked for the client they never once check in on me. They do not care about the employees they staff, they only care about their profit. As soon as I was let go by the client Consultnet removed me as an employee and so far will not help me find new work, again I believe this is a continuing the retaliation for me reporting discrimination.Every other temporary agency I've worked for (and it's a lot) has always check on me regularly and typically has taken me out for lunch and included me in in company events. Consultnet will not reach out to you or do anything to make you feel like they care at all. NEVER. They are, as the last client they staffed me with said, pimps that only care about making money and have no desire to actual manage issues."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Don't lie to employees to trick them to take a job. Dont' lie and say a job will go full time when you know it won't. Respond to complaint of harrassment. Stop ignoring employees. Give the employee their personnel file when requested since it is a law in California."
