"I've worked for HostGator since May of 2012. I started in Tech Support, then moved to Sales, then became the Web Production Team Manager, which is basically the manager of the Design team that is handling customers' websites. I am not currently happy at all with my compensation in this role."

"I've worked at HostGator for a little over 3 years and have seen since the EIG takeover the entire company fall apart. No employee retention, no employee growth, no hiring, outsourcing to India. This is not a place for you or anyone unless you reside in India."

"When I first started, I loved my job. After about a year of being there, things started to change. Supervisors stopped having so much control, they took away our ability to do tickets because certain folks made mistakes, etc. They also seemed to stop caring about quality at all, both in the agents and in the hardware and software that they give us to do our jobs. The computers that they have us using are Inspiron Core Two Duo at best (so like 1.7GHz max) and the highest amount of memory in a workstation is 4GB. This causes our workstations to crash upwards of 10-15 times a day in some cases, while we're working on chats; and we're still expected to hit quota. We've been making a gripe about this for months with no change in site. Overall, the management has severely declined, and so has the morale. All of that being said, I still enjoy going to work solely because I get to help other people and push the company in a better direction, even if it seems like nobody upstairs cares."

"While the work environment is very relaxed and not very stressful the management is incredibly poorly informed and repeatedly as well as often makes mistakes that hurt both the company and it's employees."

"Interesting job, varied tasks. Coworkers very bright and intelligent group. Corporate management cuts costs and corners to the detriment of customer service and data-center reliability. Compensation is below industry and facilities are dirty and poorly maintained."

"As long as you suck up to your superiors you will have a relatively easy time moving up in this company. You don't need to do your job that well, just get along with your supervisor."

"Went through 3 managers in one year. Emphasis was more on quantity than quality. Managers and coworker were young and inexperienced. No attention was given to recommendations by employees. Complete top down management for the wrong reasons - good employees were frequently dismissed because they took the time to speak with their customers and give quality service, but didn't make the quota for numbers of completed inquiries. Solutions seemed irrelevant - just get rid of the customer inquiries."

"I've worked with this company for over a year. I was promised an ever-changing and growing environment, but was met with some minor training (most everything I had to self-teach or learn from outside sources/trial and error) and stifling opposition to those with ambition to advance in the company. Constant internal restructuring also made it hard to know exactly "what to do" to get the promotion ball rolling."

"I worked with Hostgator.com from March 2008, until May 2012. As a new employee, the company offers competitive starting salaries, provides free lunches, and offers many daily food themes and provides occasional company outings. However, there is little communication between management and supervisors, and there is little opportunity to advance within the company. Also, shortly after I left, the company was sold."

"I've worked for HostGator since 2009. It's been great, however the purchase of the company by EIG has led to the downfall of this company and many others which have been purchased by EIG. I can no longer stand by product which I do not believe in."
