"I worked for Firestone complete auto care for a little over a year and it was not a great learning experience. It was my first receptionist job. They worked with me at my pace. Excessive hours though."

"I worked for Firestone- Bridgestone Retail Operations for 2 years. I started as a sales representative and then moved to assistant manager. The company was overall just okay to work for. Excess hours, no where close to enough help. Never allowed to use vacation time but don’t get paid for un used time. The manager I worked for use to also do very sneaky things to say the least that eventually made me have to leave the company because I didn’t agree. However higher management never wanted to correct."

"While working at Firestone Full Auto Care too many complications popped up while already trying to put up with the lack of skill management had. Compensation for doing work and ability to move up was unfair. Schedules were also a problem."

"It's a pretty good place to start in the automotive field. Work hours are long, at least 50 hours a week. The pay is flag time but it’s mostly warranty time so your always getting shafted on every car you touch. Good beniftis cheap but good health insurance , dental , vision , 401k with match up to first 6%. I was also living with my boss for over 2 years witch was great until as soon as we broke up a month later I was fired , now she’s on vacation with the lead technician. So as you can tell there is little to no professionalism"

"While Firestone Building Products is a good company to work for, the way they do things could be greatly improved. They give you limited resources and want the world. They talk a good talk but do not do well in following what they want you to do."

General Manager

"Growth opportunities, reputable, allowed business decision freedom that is rare in the corporate retail environment."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Ask the interviewer what qualities/skills/abilities are necessary in this company in order to be considered promotable. If one does not know exactly what is needed togrow within the company, the applicant will be starting a journey in which he/she does not have a clear path or road to travel on that facilitates success.."

What don't you like about working at Firestone?

"the sales pressure envirornment and lack of understanding that mistakes may happen that are out of the GM's control. Mistakes that are avoidbale are one thing, but general mgmt should not lose job security over simple mistakes. I would recommend upper mgmt to coach, mentor, advise or lead the manager to utilize preventative management techniques to avoid future mistakes, not release them."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Work with subordinates, not against. Business/operational/human resource related decisions should also benefit subordinates just as much as the company and management. Making changes that negatively impact lower level employees (that are just as vital to the company as mgmt) are not recommended."
