"I have worked with Directv through the employment of Consultnet for the past year. A great place to work for someone wanting to learn a great deal about consumer hardware and software. Would recommend Directv to anyone looking for employment."

"I have been working at DirecTV for over a year now. This was a first for me coming from the video game industry, but I was able to adapt quickly, due to the fact that QA is virtually the same method everywhere. I enjoy working with a great team of engineers, and my seniors are real professionals. And of course whenever I need some advice from my lead for anything, he is always ready to help.I have learned a lot, such as using scripts, running them, and using different types of hardware."

"When I started working here at DirecTV, it was a handful of managers within the PM group that had complete ownership of their products but as time went on, there was a regime change that consisted of hiring program directors that had NO CLUE as to what we were actually trying to build. As time went on, more and more of the original PM group was discontent with the lack of ownership we had with our original products and we felt we were relegated to paperwork and status reports rather real PM work."

"When hired as a contractor thee were some perks for working there. As time went by, contractors lost many of the small perks. Contractors now have a time limit of how long one can be employed. This is discouraging if there are limited spots for conversion."

"It's been good to work for them. Lots of independence, interesting work, got to make my own website. Office is nice- shared an office wiith one other person. However they are now (2013) reducing number of contractors, and I don't think it will be as good a place for contractors in the future."

"Worst temp assignment I've ever taken. Miserable. Felt like a slave."

What do you like about working at DirecTV?

"Nothing. I wasted a year here in Consumer Premise Engineering to find a new job but they ultimately laid me off."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Avoid Consumer Premise Engineering, other groups aren't as bad. However keep in mind this company has major nepotism issues (you can find reviews everywhere stating this) so don't expect a warm cozy work environment, you will always be competing in unnecessary and unmotivating ways."

What don't you like about working at DirecTV?

"Bullying management. Authoritarian style, ignores you if you do well, reprimands you for not reading his mind. Management by threats, no leadership at all. Like working in a factory. Manager steals work, unclear direction, poor communicator. Upper management interviewed me and knew of the bullying but told me there was nothing they would do about it. Reported discrimination and was ignored. Very backward methods of management. Training only offered to family and friends, other employees given no training, then reprimanded for not being up to speed. Management sets up non-family and friends up for failure."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Hire manager that have management experience. Give all employees training, not just the favorites and your family."

"The bonuses able to be earned in Customer Service and the initial."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Find another place to work where the company treats you like a person rather than a disposable cog in their wheel."

What don't you like about working at DirecTV?

"The supervisors attitude toward subordinates, the lack of flexibility in policy for people's lives outside of work, the decrease in pay for promotions."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Learn that employees are people and that life happens. I lost my job for being Tardy 8 times in 11 months, all 8 times were 7 minutes or less. Stuff happens and the organization needs to be more flexible with its employees."
