"Trader Joe's has a forward way of thinking by empowering their employees to make sure that customer satisfaction is always high. They offer a great range of products, however they offer very little in compensation by restricting hours and restricting benefits to the very few. The average crew member will have to work for more than five years to begin to achieve a livable wage unless the employee is single. The company does not use new technology and therefore some tasks could be completed more efficiently."

"I do not like working as a crew member. I feel as though people assume because I work for a fast food restaurant my life is a failure and I am going nowhere, when it is the exact opposite. Although the work is relatively easy, aside from dealing with customers, the compensation should still be better. No one can have a healthy lifestyle making minimal wage."

"The pay and benefits are decent, and the crew are generally good people."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Don't get sucked into this store. Maybe it's better in other regions, but not here in Indy."
What don't you like about working at Trader Joe's?
"Promotions are given to those who kiss ass the most. We have more competent, intelligent, educated and genuine people among the crew than among the managers. Hours are cut for crew members so that our 15 (yes 15!) merchants and mates can be paid to do very little work. Crew members are overworked and tired. We have to have a completely open availability in order to get any hours, which leaves us with a poor quality of life and little sleep. Even with an open availability, some of us are still losing hours. A second job is out of the question because it would limit your availability."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"We have 15 bosses. This is ridiculous. Most of them are uneducated and unable to work their way through basic critical thinking. You have more qualified people among your crew. Stop promoting based on favoritism."

"Working at McDonald's is eye opening. Everyone should work there to see the behaviors."
What do you like about working at McDonald's?
"I like the steady pay and hours at McDonald's. I have learned more respect for other people and for other fast food workers. If you didn't know it before, you will learn the golden rule. Between upper management and customers, a worker is a commodity, and you can be treated that way. Not a mistake if you can take it."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Be upfront about your schedule. If you have kids, are a student, or have a second job, let them know so they can plan accordingly. They hire pretty readily."
What don't you like about working at McDonald's?
"Customers can be very rude. Upper management rarely backs up a worker and will lie to the health department. Management will throw workers under the bus to cover themselves."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Trust the staff. If they are saying something is happening, then it most likely is. Listen if they have a suggestion. Don't insult their intelligence by sweeping their ideas under the rug. Know that a worker will report to the health department if nobody else will."
