Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

Corporate Trainer at UnitedHealth Group
in Tampa, FL

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"Don't plan on making a career with them; they will close offices on a whim."

What do you like about working at UnitedHealth Group?

"401k is pretty good along with the employee stock purchase. Vision and health benefits are good."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"UHG wants the individual to learn it their way. Don't plan on making this employer a career, but it's a good way to gain experience. If you are already experienced, look elsewhere, because they have a way of getting rid of individuals the longer they are with the organization."

What don't you like about working at UnitedHealth Group?

"Dental benefits are very limited. Trying to get an answer to a question may result in four different answers. Internal systems are not consistent. There is always a work-around for a new application (system). They never seem to be done right the first time. Systems are slow to be updated, and everything is a patchwork of band-aids on top of band-aids. Employee reference systems (for customer service) have the public face: everything is nice and neat. But work-arounds don't seem to get published in the reference system. You have to save emails on what the current work-around is because the job aid is wrong. There is a HUGE focus on money and productivity, which conflicts with the system issues. Recently, jobs never feel stable, and offices are opened and closed routinely for no apparent reason other than to shake things up The result is long-standing employees with a lot of knowledge are lost or leave because of a lack of stability. Many leaders have no sense of how to accomplish the task they are leading, resulting in a warped sense of what is possible. Leaders don't want to hear what's needed to help improve. They just want to know how it can be done cheaper. HR is a joke (outsourced, of course) and doesn't really follow through on company rhetoric. (harassment, age discrimination, gender bias, etc.)"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Make the focus again about caring for the members, and allow employees the time and good tools (without the 10 or 15 work arounds) to accomplish the task. If you continue to outsource so much, you will never get a quality product. Every vendor says they can do it better and cheaper, but look at how many customers you have lost with each and every vendor. Every leader (and I mean every) should be expected to perform the tasks they are managing (annually). It would keep the directors, managers, etc., realistic about what is possible, and where the true challenges are."

Corporate Trainer at Research In Motion

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"Most important professional experience of my life!"

What do you like about working at Research In Motion?

"In the beginning it was very entrepreneurial feeling. I was given the expectations to treat my job like a small business and network myself internally. As a result I have accomplished some huge goals, and have had some big jumps in responsibly! ExamplesMany c-level training sessions, designing & marketing sales campaigns, many many business trips, multiple invites to RIM's annual conference, large audience deliveries (almost 1000 people in attendance!) Training in many fields with many types of technology, subject matter expert lectures on SMB buying and selling habits, the list goes on!"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Since the company has shifted, things have changed significantly, so it could be an entirely different company to interview for now. My approach when I interviewed was to be honest and to be myself. The interview was on a personal level, focusing more on what I can do for them with the skills and experience I had at present. At the time they were looking for a sales trainer that tips the scale in favor of fundamental sales understanding rather than polished facilitation experience. This unique opportunity and risk is what allowed for me to be successful during my time in this position at Research In Motion."

What don't you like about working at Research In Motion?

"Management lacked business acumen as a result of visioning things departmentally, which in turn didn't fit with the corporate vision. Over & complex management was a major concern, and was constantly addressed in the media."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"To trust and empower the employees, as they once did, which was when RIM was at its peak performance and profitability."

in Tucson, AZ

What do you like about working at APAC Customer Services?

"It's a culture based on positive reinforcement and constant improvement."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"APAC has a culture of mutual servitude. If you're willing to serve the customer with all you have, leadership is willing to serve you with the same."

What don't you like about working at APAC Customer Services?

"It doesn't pay very much. I love the work I do, but the added stress of struggling to make ends meet diminishes the luster of the job."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would embrace technology and social media more effectively. APAC is slow to change in an ever-changing world."
