Continental Airlines still maintains a large customer base in Houston, TX because it is the company’s largest hub and the former headquarters of Continental. By the end of 2011, Continental and United expect authorization from the Federal Aviation Administration to run as one airline. Upon completion, the merged airline will operate as United Airlines, but with Continental''s logo. In the meantime, both airlines run separately, but with oversight from a combined leadership team based out of Chicago, IL, the headquarters of United Airlines.

Currently, United Continental Holdings has approximately 80,000 employees worldwide. United Continental Holdings also operates about 5,800 flights a day. This makes it possible for people to travel to 371 destinations throughout North America, South America, Europe and Asia.

Continental Airlines states that its culture is built around encouraging new ideas and rewarding performance. The company does provide bonuses to its employees when they meet company goals.
