"I did not like the way that we were informed about the companies closing. We were notified via conference call. Very unprofessional."

"Tandem the company I started with was so great every change over the years was simply degradation. Tandem was work hard play hard and we did both."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Only consider working for the high profit divisions on the lastest technology, the rest will only waste your career away. Leave the second your division sees trouble, they'll have no loyalty for you, you should have no loyalty for them. Demand $$$$ everytime they NEED you and cash out quickly. My biggest mistake was feeling loyal for the great things it had been in the past."

What don't you like about working at Compaq?

"Between CEO and board scandals, piled on more CEO and board scandals, management degraded to bad ideas and scandals top to bottom in the company at least at my division. I stuck around to vest stock options but I should have left before it got as bad as it did instead."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Start over from the Board thru Hurd and on down. Hurd was ousted last week but I'm afraid the curse will not leave with just the CEO"

What do you like about working at Compaq?

"Conmpaq was very eye opening to the systems Industry, working with, then 512 MB drives. Times have changed."

"HP has a very good job environment. Everyone typically get along with each other very well."

What don't you like about working at Compaq?

"The work environment is very good. But, employee at HP are always worried about layoffs."

"Be open, honest, and yourself. If you have the skills necessary for a position, you will be considered."

"I left HP for a career move, otherwise I would have stayed on."

"Need to recognize the real working contributors and reward them appropriately as oppose to the Figure Heads and Talking Heads"

"I enjoyed the team atmosphere and the thrill of talking to customers about our products and solutions. The management team valued my work ethic and appreciated my talents- rewarded for hard work."

"They NEW Executive team was not interested in our talent and outsourced us to Arkansas."

"Bankruptcy due to billing incompetency, that's my understanding. No one knew until it was too late."

"I really don't think Inacom was resurrected by HP/Compaq. I was at the auction."

"We were given great latitude to work independently and this paid off with improved performance."

"My entire team was laid off right after the HP / Compaq acquisition. This is more of a critique of mergers and acquisition than of HP or Compaq."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"When determining who to lay off layoffs should be based upon performance rather than just looking at the highest salaries. You can loose a lot of value doing so and might be left with underachievers running your business."

"if you have a job at a customer site with oncall be ready to work 60+ hours a week"

"none my managers were fine and did not try to micromanage the techs they let us do what needed to be done."
