"Lots of autonomy at store as store manager to make decisions on how to operate the store. This company puts a lot of confidence in it's department managers in daily store operations, and in turn sees most of it's store manager's come up from the hourly ranks. I was given the opportunity to run my store (district) as if it were my own business within the boundaries and parameters set forth by the company."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"If you can get on board with this company, you should. Once there make sure to learn everything you can from the experienced associates (both hourly and salaried) the associates are what makes Wal-Mart such a great place to work and shop. Take care of your associates and they will take care of you, never lose sight of this priority and you will stay successful with this company."
What don't you like about working at Walmart?
"towards the end I saw too many career promotion decisions being made to fill quotas and less emphasis put on who was the best qualified person for the job."

"I like the location of my job."

"Just be yourself."

"CVS Pharmacy can be very discriminatory."

"Management needs to be more open-minded."

"The actual work and business environment. It was a place for growth and learning."

"Customer service experience in key. Make sure you know your backround and your company's backround."
What don't you like about working at Bath & Body Works?
"It was a retail position, and with that comes retail hours. The long hours over Holiday were hard. 13 hour days."

"ALLOW MANAGERS TO FOCUS ON THEIR JOBS. HIGHER PERCENTAGE OF DUTIES SHOULD BE BASED ON BUILDING SALES AND PROVIDING A MORE QUALITY EPXERIENCE FOR THE CUSTOMER."
What do you like about working at Ann Taylor LOFT?
"I love having a relationship with our clientele. I am the store's visual manager, and I process shipment, replenish product, place fixtures, and more. I love that I am in charge of the store environment and how the client responds to the product how I placed it."
What don't you like about working at Ann Taylor LOFT?
"The only thing I do not like about retail is the constantly changing schedule."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"If you have a great relationship with your team, they are more likely to follow your direction. If you do things that show you care and make them happy, they will do the same in return for you. You must also be careful to keep the line of manager and associate. If they feel too comfortable, they may try to take advantage of that as well."

"Loved my training coordinator & the District LP Manager, and had a great staff at my store! Would work for the company again, but probably not in this district."

"Guess has a great interviewing process. So, no."
What don't you like about working at GUESS?
"District Manager was not as together as other district managers and upper management. There was no professionalism on her part. It was an open door policy if you had an issue with someone that couldn't be handled in store, and if you told her anything, the whole district would find out. Just not very professional on her part. She lacked people skills and tried to be everyones friend rather than being a manager!"
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Just be more professional and keep confidentiality as a priority. Be more tactful in approaching certain situations."

"Be single with no friends to spend time with ans choose your location carefully. If they choose for you they will put you in the hardest locations to keep co-managers."

"Upper level management simply didn't care about their employees! It was a very high-stress position, with NO job security!"
