Cablevision Systems Corporation is a residential cable service provider based in New York. It is run by a board of directors, which is currently headed by Chairman Charles F. Dolan. Cablevision provides cable service to residents in the northeastern part of the United States and in four western states. Cablevision spun off the highly successful Rainbow Media LLC in 2011, renaming it AMC Networks. The company also owns Clearview Cinemas. High speed Internet services are offered under the brand name Optimum. It currently holds the largest customer base of any cable company in the U.S. Cablevision was founded in 1973 by Charles Dolan. Dolan had previously launched the cable network Home Box Office (HBO).
