"Twice was employed by Cablevision. Never was made a permanent employee."

What do you like about working at Cablevision?

"Cablevision was geographically desirable to me in terms of location. It was a great atmosphere with lots of people that for the most part were all nice people."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Make sure you get a shift that you request in the initial interview. Oftentimes you might be offered a second shift with the promise of being moved up in a couple of months to the first shift. This does not always happen right away. Be sure to know your technology, you will be randomly tested on your skills from time to time. This is to ensure you know what you are doing on the phone and is a measure of whether you will be considered a candidate for permanent employment. Many prospects have remained temporary employees due to the scores on the test. Others would be recommended for retraining."

What don't you like about working at Cablevision?

"The payscale could have been better for the services provided. I do not like the parking arrangements at the Melville facility. They do not have enough parking space to facilitate the office members. Cablevision would benefit in adjusting their demographics in that category. Ushering seats and parking for internal hires seems to be a growing practice for temporary employees who want to become permanent employees .This was a trend that I observed in my last employment contract at Cable. The help desk is based on productivity, how many calls can be answered within an hour, more so than problem resolution, which can lead to an increase in callback volumes."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Management should be more actively involved in policing the ushering in mentality from some of the less in depth quality employees. I am sure some employees have been hired just on the recommendation of a few employees who were getting the best spots in the parking lots and the seat being saved for them. This is a corrupt practice that needs to be acknowledged and addressed. I am a highly qualified individual who was let go of because I called a fellow temp on this practice. I attempted to have management intervene and talk to this individual. The reply was to talk to him myself. I did and was cut from my contract the following day. I was let go of shortly after trying to do things the right way."
